# Renovaré **Summary.** Renovaré is a Christian spiritual-formation organization founded by author Richard J. Foster. It teaches and resources the practice of the spiritual disciplines across denominational lines, describing itself as an ecumenical, broadly evangelical ministry. ## Substance Foster is known for *Celebration of Discipline* (1978), a widely read book on practices such as prayer, fasting, study, simplicity, and service. Renovaré grew out of that work and continues to promote spiritual formation through writing, events, and study resources. The organization draws on several Christian traditions — contemplative, holiness, charismatic, social-justice, evangelical, and incarnational — and presents them as complementary streams rather than competing camps. Its audience spans Protestant and other Christian readers. This page states well-established facts: that Renovaré exists as a spiritual-formation organization and that Richard J. Foster founded it. Its work sits alongside other formation writers of the same period, including Dallas Willard. ## Why it matters in this wiki The wiki tracks discipleship and spiritual-formation models. Renovaré represents a mainstream formation stream focused on practice, which offers a contrast point when the wiki examines charismatic or NAR-linked models of growth and authority. ## Related - [[The Spirit of the Disciplines]]
