# Readwise — Passion Translation Critique Cluster A batch of Readwise items synced 2026-06-07/08, covering The Passion Translation from two directions: Simmons in his own words (primary-source clips) and the evangelical-discernment critique (Mike Winger and colleagues). Ingested as a cluster because the items are highly redundant and feed a single concept page. --- ## Summary The corpus splits cleanly. Primary-source clips show Simmons asserting divine-revelation translation, a heart-over-credentials qualification standard, and an experiential-allegorical hermeneutic. Critic items document a near-uniform scholarly verdict that TPT is an amplification carrying NAR theology, not a translation. The analysis lives on the The Passion Translation concept page; this page indexes the underlying items. (Source: cluster; see per-item paths in frontmatter.) --- ## Items in the cluster **Simmons primary source (NAR-adjacent):** - *Is Brian Simmons Qualified to Make The Passion Translation* — New Tribes / Wycliffe / Paya Kuna training claim; "heart for God" qualifier. - *Brian & Candice Simmons – Saturday PM* — the *nashaq* "kiss = drink wine" homonym demonstration; 1800-year novelty admission. - *Brian & Candice Simmons – Sunday AM* — "in the middle of you … the heartbeat of God" experiential hermeneutic. **Evangelical / discernment critique:** - *The Bible Translation That Needs a Surgeon General's Warning* — Winger multi-scholar compilation; "does not qualify as scripture." - *What You Need to Know Before Using the Passion Translation* — McDaniels credential rebuttal; Peshitta anachronism; NWT comparison. - *Mike Winger: The Passion Translation, Bethel, Bill Johnson, and More* — the network-connection thesis. - *Exposing the Agenda and Origins of The Passion Translation* — former-coworker interview; "agenda to push … extreme signs and wonders movements, some people call it the NAR." Duplicate Readwise views (Articles, Podcasts, Full Document Contents) of the same items are not separately indexed. --- ## Pages built/updated from this cluster - The Passion Translation — new concept page (flagship). - Brian Simmons — new entity. - Mike Winger — new entity stub. - New Apostolic Reformation — TPT cross-reference reinforced (see [[readwise-nar-pivec-geivett|A New Apostolic Reformation?
