We have many types of insurance to protect ourselves against catastrophic situations.
Current economy: 20% inflation while many havenβt received raises to reflect that.
There is something in us that believes this isnβt the way it should be.
America has the best economic system and has provided greater wealth than any other system in existence ever.
There has to be a way where peoples needs are met, satisfied, content. This is the best thatβs existed. And yet, we long for better.
Job has the life. He has a great family, business is good.
[Job 1:3](https://www.bible.com/bible/8/JOB.1.3)
[[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 1#3|Job 1.3]] He also possessed 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke (pairs) of oxen, 500 female donkeys, and a very great number of servants, so that this man was the greatest [and wealthiest and most respected] of all the men of the east (northern Arabia).
The enemy of Job - Satan goes to God and claims Job is only faithful because he is blessed.
[Job 1:9-10](https://www.bible.com/bible/8/JOB.1.9-10)
[[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 1#9|Job 1,9-10]] Then Satan answered the LORD, "Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not put a hedge [of protection] around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands [and conferred prosperity and happiness upon him], and his possessions have increased in the land. [[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 1#10|]]
We donβt just love God because of what we get from God. God gives Satan permission to devastate Job. We never get an answer why. God withdraws that protection and Satan attacks in 3 ways.
[Job 1:14-15](https://www.bible.com/bible/8/JOB.1.14-15)
[[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 1#13|Job 1,14-15]] Now there was a day when Job's sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother's house, and a messenger came to Job and said, "The oxen were plowing and the donkeys were feeding beside them, [[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 1#14|]]
It doesnβt matter how much insurance and financial gain youβve had, ruin can come.
Jobβs friends have many reasons for why he was experiencing all that he did.
Prosperity gospel is a lie.
[Job 1:20-21](https://www.bible.com/bible/8/JOB.1.20-21)
[[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 1#19|Job 1,20-21]] and suddenly, a great wind came from across the desert, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people and they died, and I alone have escaped to tell you." Then Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head [in mourning for the children],<mark style="background: #D2B3FFA6;"> and he fell to the ground and worshiped [God]</mark>. [[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 1#20|]]
<mark style="background: #ADCCFFA6;">Everything we have is from God. Since God owns everything, we can trust him with everything. </mark>
There is nothing wrong with wanting and getting more, working hard to get ahead. We just canβt make those things our God. That becomes idolatry.
We have broken desires in a broken world.
I am most satisfied in God but sin causes us to believe something or someone will satisfy us fully. We believe that a bigger paycheck, spouse, or whatever will satisfy us. We live in a broken world and if we get what we want, it comes with a bitter aftertaste.
[Job 38:1](https://www.bible.com/bible/8/JOB.38.1)
[[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 38#1|Job 38.1]] <mark style="background: #D2B3FFA6;">Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind</mark> and said,
Job will you trust Me no matter what?
God speaks out of the storm. God entered into Jobβs storm and spoke out of that place. There is nothing we go through that God has not entered into and He wants to speak to you out of that storm.
**<mark style="background: #ADCCFFA6;">We long for Eden.</mark>**
We can live a life in relationship with God.
How do we trust God who owns everything with everything? Eden must be restored in our hearts.
You find your rest in Jesus.
Are you looking for your satisfaction in Him, or other places?
Everything that the sin curse caused is reversed in Jesus. How does he turn around this desire to use things to satisfy us? He reminds us nothing can satisfy us.
I am not home yet, I am not where I belong.
What can we learn from Job about trusting God with everything?
Job reacts to his friends. He tries to teach them a lesson.
[Job 24:22-23](https://www.bible.com/bible/8/JOB.24.22-23)
[[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 24#22|Job 24,22-23]] "Yet God draws away the mighty by His power; He rises, but no one has assurance of life. "<mark style="background: #D2B3FFA6;">God gives them security, and they are supported; And His eyes are on their ways</mark>. [[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 24#23|]]
God wants to strip things away so that people discover they canβt trust anything but Him.
He owns it all. Trust that He knows what you need.
God wants to bless and put favor on your life.
[Job 1:10](https://www.bible.com/bible/8/JOB.1.10)
[[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 1#10|Job 1.10]] Have You not put a hedge [of protection] around him and his house and all that he has, on every side? <mark style="background: #D2B3FFA6;">You have blessed the work of his hands [and conferred prosperity and happiness upon him]</mark>, and his possessions have increased in the land.
[Job 38:39-41](https://www.bible.com/bible/8/JOB.38.39-41)
[[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 38#38|Job 38,39-41]] When the dust hardens into a mass And the clods stick together [because of the heat]? "Can you [Job] hunt the prey for the lion, Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions When they crouch in their dens And lie in wait in their lair? [[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 38#39|]] [[Bible/AMP/Job/Job 38#40|]]
