### ๐ Summary
- What is the central message or summary of today's sermon?
Are we too connected online and not enough offline? What causes us to keep people at arms length? Why do we build walls after weโve been hurt?
The expectation is different at church right? You expect to be accepted. This is the one place I should be loved regardless.
It isnโt always that way. Sometimes it hurts worse when the church hurts us?
Our responsibility is to allow people to be the worst version of themself and still feel welcome.
People come to church because they are hurting. People come to church because they are hurting.
We end up with an ER Room. Hurting people hurt people.
We start to disconnect or disengage to avoid connecting here.
Jesus was preparing to die. He leads the disciples to the upper room where they should get their feet washed by a servant. Then the youngest or least among them would do it. Jesus does the job.
There is confusion happening among the disciples. Jesus starts teaching - I have loved you, donโt let your heart be troubled. It is his last teachings. If thereโs a way to take the cup away. On the way to the garden they pass the vineyard. Pruning, vine, branches, fruit. There is confusion happening among the disciples. What is it to remain in His love?
1. Focus on being not doing.
2. Welcome the cleaning, cutting, pruning, rinsing, cutting.
John 15:9
[[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#9|John 15,9-10]] I have loved you, [just] as the Father has loved Me; abide in My love [continue in His love with Me]. If you keep My commandments [if you continue to obey My instructions], you will abide in My love _and_ live on in it, just as I have obeyed My Father's commandments and live on in His love. [[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#10|]]
Based upon our understanding of scripture - go baptize all nations in the name of father, son, Holy Spirit. Based upon our understanding of scripture - go baptize all nations in the name of father, son, Holy Spirit.
The trinity of God is the idea that He is 3 unique personalities, roles, responsibilities making up one God.
Before all of creation, God
Jesus says - that is how much I love you.
How much do you love your soul? Your soul is you, it has a body and a mind. Your soul is the essence of you.
You are invited into Jesus loves us, the way the Father loves the Son.
The father spoke and Jesus the son created. The trinity was at work at the very beginning. The father spoke and Jesus the son created. The trinity was at work at the very beginning.
[[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#9|John 15,9-11]] I have loved you, [just] as the Father has loved Me; abide in My love [continue in His love with Me]. If you keep My commandments [if you continue to obey My instructions], you will abide in My love _and_ live on in it, just as I have obeyed My Father's commandments and live on in His love. I have told you these things, that My joy _and_ delight may be in you, and that your joy _and_ gladness may be of full measure _and_ complete _and_ overflowing. [[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#10|]] [[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#11|]]
When we obey God, it produces a joy that is powerful and life changing.
If youโve been hurt, rejected, unfriended, hurt others, betraying others, you are invited into deep intimacy and relationship with God through Jesus. You are created for community. Remain in Godโs love. โ
Remain in love with God. Continue to develop that relationship.
Each of have wandered off. We wandered astray. He didnโt abandon us.
The separation from relationship from God is sin, it wrecks our life. The separation from relationship from God is sin, it wrecks our life.
We have a Good Father. Greater love.
[[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#13|John 15,13-15]] No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends. You are My friends if you keep on doing the things which I command you to do. I do not call you servants (slaves) any longer, for the servant does not know what his master is doing (working out). But I have called you My friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from My Father. [I have revealed to you everything that I have learned from Him.] [[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#14|]] [[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#15|]]
Jesus took on our eternal death sentence and rises victorious.
When he pulls us out of our own destruction, he doesnโt discipline us, he embraces us and calls us friend and family of God.
Remain friends with God.
Be trusted with secrets only He knows.
Moses spoke with God as friends speak to each other face to face or heart to heart.
God wants to pour into your life a deep sense of connection, intimacy, and love.
Friendship with God brings:
1. What fills spills. You are created for community. You are loved to love. You are invited into the intimacy of the trinity.
2.
[[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#12|John 15,12-14]] This is My commandment: that you love one another [just] as I have loved you. No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends. You are My friends if you keep on doing the things which I command you to do. [[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#13|]] [[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#14|]]
We are doing family and friendship, not a business or corporation. This isnโt a customer service experience.
What people want is a community where people care about each other.
[[Bible/AMPC/John/John 15#15|John 15.15]] I do not call you servants (slaves) any longer, for the servant does not know what his master is doing (working out). But I have called you My friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from My Father. [I have revealed to you everything that I have learned from Him.]
Jesus was just washing their feet as a servant to them.
