# A Prediction Counted in a Resizable Unit Cannot Fail
## Claim
If a prediction is dated in a unit the predictor can redefine after the date passes, such as "a generation," it can't miss. I check whether the unit's length was fixed in print before the date, and if it wasn't, I treat the prediction as carrying no information.
<!-- atomicity: 1 idea ✓ -->
## Scope & conditions
- Holds for generation counts (40, 70 or 120 years) added to a start event such as 1948 or 1967.
- Doesn't hold when the length is fixed before the date arrives. A 40-year count from 1967 was falsifiable and ended in 2007.
- The source is a podcast where guest Chenno Ross (title spells "Chino") argues this against the late Hobart Freeman's reading of Luke 21. Ross's account of what Freeman taught has no citation in the recording, so treat the Freeman side as reported.
- Separate from why a movement keeps a prediction alive. This note covers how the unit makes failure impossible to record.
## Evidence
Ross, on counting a generation from 1948 or 1967:

> the more time elapses, the more you have to go back and re visit how long you think a generation is.
By the date arithmetic in the analysis, counts of 40 years from 1948 (1988), 40 from 1967 (2007) and 70 from 1948 (2018) have passed. A 70-year count from 1967 ends in 2037, which hasn't arrived.
