The speaker, a former student at Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, describes how Bolz used Facebook research to fabricate "prophetic words" that appeared supernaturally accurate. His fraudulent prophecy directed her into an abusive marriage she believed was "God's will," nearly resulting in her death. The scandal deepens with revelations that Bethel leadership, including Bill Johnson, knew about both Bolz's deceptive practices and allegations of sexual misconduct against staff members. Despite this knowledge, they continued platforming him and failed to warn their congregation. Text messages show leadership actively avoiding responsibility while privately warning other leaders not to work with Bolz. The case illustrates broader patterns of institutional cover-up within the New Apostolic Reformation network, where accountability is sacrificed to protect organizational reputation and interconnected leadership relationships. ## ๐Ÿ—’๏ธ Notes #### โฑ๏ธ [00:00](https://youtu.be/DjxIVkYkITY?t=0) โ€” [H1] Bethel School background and Shawn Bolz fraud - Key idea: Speaker joined Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry cult at 18, now exposing cover-up of fraudulent prophet - Evidence: "Shawn Bull was getting people's information off of Facebook... claiming that he was hearing these specific words of knowledge from God" #### โฑ๏ธ [01:15](https://youtu.be/DjxIVkYkITY?t=75) โ€” [H2] Personal victim testimony of harmful prophecy - Key idea: Bolz's fake prophecy directed speaker into abusive marriage that nearly killed her - Evidence: "He said that God was giving me to my ex-husband... my ex-husband almost ended up taking my life" #### โฑ๏ธ [02:30](https://youtu.be/DjxIVkYkITY?t=150) โ€” [H3] Discovery of pattern and other victims in 2020 - Key idea: Research revealed systematic fraud with Facebook information harvesting - Evidence: "They had taken a lot of his prophetic words and shown that all of that information was available on Facebook" #### โฑ๏ธ [03:45](https://youtu.be/DjxIVkYkITY?t=225) โ€” [H1] Bethel's prior knowledge and silence - Key idea: Insider information revealed Bethel knew about fraud before 2020 but never warned public - Evidence: "Bethel knew... way before 2020, they knew that he had been conning people and that they had cut ties with him" #### โฑ๏ธ [04:30](https://youtu.be/DjxIVkYkITY?t=270) โ€” [H2] Alumni page confrontation and defensive reactions - Key idea: Attempting to warn Bethel alumni resulted in attacks and accusations of gossip - Evidence: "People were so mad. A former student's testimony reveals how institutional cover-ups can have life-threatening consequences for believers who trust their leaders' spiritual authority. The Shawn Bolz scandal demonstrates why transparency and accountability matter in religious organizations. When leaders prioritize reputation over protection, vulnerable people pay the price. For those supporting survivors or researching religious organizations, this case highlights the importance of documentation, survivor testimony, and persistent advocacy for truth. Survivors: Create safe spaces for testimony documentation and healing - Researchers: Document patterns of institutional cover-up across organizations - Families: Develop resources for those concerned about loved ones joining Bethel - Advocates: Support accountability efforts while protecting survivor privacy #### Religious Organizations - Leadership: Implement transparent reporting mechanisms for misconduct allegations - Oversight: Establish independent accountability structures beyond internal networks - Education: Train staff on recognizing and responding to abuse allegations appropriately - Communication: Develop protocols for warning congregations about known risks ## ๐Ÿงช Hypotheses - Religious organizations with interconnected leadership networks are more likely to engage in mutual protection rather than accountability - Charismatic movements emphasizing supernatural authority create higher barriers to questioning leadership misconduct - Social media documentation is increasingly effective at exposing previously hidden institutional failures - Survivor testimony becomes more credible when corroborated by insider information and documentation ### ๐Ÿ“Š Methodology - Comparative analysis of misconduct responses across New Apostolic Reformation organizations - Timeline analysis of Bethel's knowledge versus public warnings about Bolz - Social network mapping of leadership relationships and mutual protection patterns - Content analysis of prophetic claims against available social media data ### โ“ Questions - How many other "prophets" in the NAR network use similar research methods for supernatural claims? - What legal liability do religious organizations face for failing to warn about known risks? - How can potential victims better research religious organizations before joining? ### ๐Ÿ”ฎ Future Research - Systematic documentation of accountability failures across charismatic organizations - Analysis of social media's role in exposing religious institutional failures - Legal frameworks for religious organization transparency and victim protection ### ๐Ÿ’ก Implications - Practice: Religious organizations need independent accountability mechanisms beyond internal networks - Policy: Consider legal requirements for transparency about known risks to congregants - Security: Social media research capabilities can expose fraudulent supernatural claims - Deductive strength: If organizations prioritize reputation over accountability, vulnerable people will be harmed (validated by testimony) - Inductive strength: Pattern recognition across multiple failing organizations suggests systemic issues - Causal reasoning: Direct connection between fraudulent prophecy and life-threatening situation - Analogical strength: Comparison to IHOP scandal demonstrates broader pattern #### Fallacies - Hasty generalization: "I truly believe that it is all of them" - needs more evidence for universal claim - Appeal to emotion: Strong emotional content may override critical evaluation - balanced with documentation #### Tone of voice - Overall tone: Traumatized but determined, seeking justice and prevention of future harm ### ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ DARVO Analysis - Deny: Bethel initially denied responsibility through Chris Vallotton's "not my problem" stance - Attack: Alumni page respondents attacked whistleblower as "gossiper" violating Christian conduct - Reverse victim/offender: Framing accountability efforts as unchristian behavior rather than necessary protection - Emotional cues and rhetoric: Strong survivor testimony balanced with documented evidence ## ๐ŸŽฏ Conclusion This testimony reveals how institutional cover-ups in religious organizations can have life-threatening consequences for believers who trust their leaders' spiritual authority. The Shawn Bolz scandal at Bethel Church demonstrates the urgent need for independent accountability mechanisms in religious institutions, particularly those claiming supernatural authority. The growing momentum around this case in 2024, after years of survivor voices being ignored, highlights the power of persistent testimony combined with documentation and social media visibility. For those concerned about loved ones in high-control religious environments, this case underscores the importance of accessible information and survivor-centered resources. The pattern of failing charismatic organizations suggests a broader reckoning within the New Apostolic Reformation network, offering hope for systemic change and better protection of vulnerable believers. ## ๐Ÿงฑ Refactor Appendix ### ๐Ÿ“š Literature Split Pad ### [H1] Religious institutions prioritize reputation over victim protection > [!quote] [Bethel Church & Shawn Bolz Scandal: Part 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DjxIVkYkITY) by [[Former Bethel Student]] via [[YouTube]]. And a lot has been coming out
[00:05] about Bethl right now due to the Shawn
[00:08] Bull situation. So, if you want to hear
[00:10] more, you can go and watch my last
[00:11] video. But long story short, there was a
[00:14] prophet that was being platformed by
[00:16] Bethl and he was getting people's
[00:18] information off of Facebook. So he would
[00:21] get up on stage, claim that he was
[00:23] hearing these specific words of
[00:24] knowledge from God, like people's
[00:26] addresses, their phone number, and then
[00:28] he would give them a prophetic word,
[00:30] claiming obviously that this is from
[00:32] God. And unfortunately, I am a victim of
[00:35] one of his prophetic words. He said that
[00:38] God was giving me to my ex-husband. He
[00:40] called out where I worked. He got my
[00:42] information off of Facebook. And my
[00:44] ex-husband almost ended up taking my
[00:46] life. And I didn't leave for the longest
[00:48] time because I thought that this was
[00:50] God's will. So after I left my ex in
[00:52] 2020, I decided to Google Shawn Behold's
[00:55] name. And that is the first time that I
[00:57] realized that other people were calling
[00:58] him out and saying that he was a con
[01:01] artist. And they had taken a lot of his
[01:03] prophetic words and shown that all of
[01:05] that information was available on
[01:07] Facebook. And there were even a couple
[01:08] times where he got stuff wrong. And it
[01:11] is because it appeared that way on
[01:13] Facebook. So, I started to make some
[01:14] videos calling out Shawn and trying to
[01:16] warn people. And eventually, I got a DM
[01:19] from somebody who had some insider
[01:21] information that Bethl knew. Um, way
[01:25] before 2020, they knew that he had been
[01:27] conning people and that they had cut
[01:30] ties with him. So, that angered me so
[01:33] much that Bethl never actually made an
[01:35] announcement. They never protected
[01:37] anybody from him because their audiences
[01:39] definitely overlap. And this guy still
[01:42] has a huge platform. He still has over
[01:44] 200,000 followers on Instagram and he is
[01:47] still giving prophetic words. So I
[01:50] decided to go to the Bethl School of
[01:52] Supernatural Ministry alumni page. And
[01:55] maybe that was kind of crazy, but I made
[01:56] a YouTube or not a YouTube, I made a Tik
[01:58] Tok video and put it in the page just
[02:01] saying, "Hey guys, just want to warn you
[02:04] that Shawn BS is not legit and he is a
[02:07] con." And people were so mad. I got very
[02:11] attacked on that. People were saying
[02:13] that I was just gossiping and that that
[02:15] is not how Christians are supposed to
[02:17] handle conflict. And I ended up leaving
[02:19] the page. Now, after that, some text
[02:21] messages were released from one of
[02:24] Shawn's victims and Chris Valin, one of
[02:27] the heads of Bethl. And in these text
[02:30] messages, he is basically explaining why
[02:32] he is not going to warn the congregation
[02:36] at Bethl about Shawn because he's kind
[02:38] of like, "This is not my problem." As
[02:40] you can imagine, that got a lot of
[02:42] backlash from people saying that you
[02:44] absolutely do need to warn your
[02:46] congregation. So, they were going to his
[02:48] Instagram comments and he replied and
[02:51] was so sassy and was saying that not
[02:53] everything is for the crowd. And later
[02:56] on, we found out that he was warning
[02:58] other leaders in the charismatic world
[03:01] to not do ministry with Shawn, but he
[03:03] wasn't warning anybody in his actual
[03:06] church. Trigger warning for this next
[03:07] part. I wasn't able to talk about this
[03:10] last year, but there are sexual
[03:12] allegations that have been against Shawn
[03:14] for years from former staff where they
[03:17] would share hotel rooms with him while
[03:19] they were on the road and he would
[03:20] pleasure himself in front of them and
[03:22] when they asked him to stop, he wouldn't
[03:25] and he would walk around without clothes
[03:27] on and just sexually harass his staff.
[03:30] And Bethl knew about these allegations
[03:33] and concerns and they did nothing. And
[03:36] not only that, after Bill Johnson, so
[03:38] the head of Bethl, after he found out
[03:41] about the the conning and the prophetic
[03:44] words and all of this had been sent to
[03:46] him and the stuff with his former staff,
[03:49] Bill Johnson still proceeded to promote
[03:52] Shawn on TBN. They did a joint
[03:55] appearance promoting his book, saying
[03:57] that he had such great character and
[03:59] that is why he was able to promote this
[04:01] book with such confidence. So, it
[04:04] appears that everybody knew and nobody
[04:06] said a freaking word. And I wish I could
[04:10] be surprised at this point, but I have
[04:12] just been hearing story after story for
[04:15] the last year on how dark this circle
[04:18] is, the new apostolic reformation and
[04:21] all of the secrets and cover-ups that
[04:23] have been going on. And I wish that I
[04:26] could tell all of those stories, but I
[04:28] also don't want to get into legal
[04:30] trouble. And some people have asked that
[04:32] I don't share those stories, but just
[04:34] know if you are in this network of
[04:36] people. Anybody who hangs out with Bill
[04:39] Johnson and those sorts of people, just
[04:43] know that I have heard horrible stories
[04:45] about a lot of these leaders and I truly
[04:48] believe that it is all of them. That the
[04:50] reason that they did not come forward
[04:52] about Shawn BS is that there's dirt on
[04:55] all of them in my personal opinion. So,
[04:58] if you guys know anything or have any
[05:00] stories or you worked for these people,
[05:03] I would love to know because I find
[05:06] healing in realizing that I was not
[05:08] crazy that this whole thing is so
[05:10] corrupt and it really just validates my
[05:13] belief that this whole thing is just an
[05:16] evil evil organization and they're all
[05:19] so connected and culty and it has been a
[05:23] very crazy week to have people in my DMs
[05:26] and comments ments asking me if I have
[05:28] seen the Mike Winger video and seeing my
[05:30] videos in his video. Um, and I'm really
[05:34] glad that people are talking about it,
[05:36] you know, because I think back to 2020
[05:39] and 2021 when I first started making my
[05:41] TikTok videos and nobody cared, you
[05:44] know. Um, I made a few videos about
[05:46] Shawn and what he had done and I was
[05:49] really trying to raise awareness at that
[05:51] time and it really felt like nobody was
[05:53] listening and the fact that this is
[05:55] getting so much traction and that people
[05:57] are really pressing for answers. It is
[06:00] very healing to see people's eyes
[06:03] finally be opened and I'm really hopeful
[06:06] that this coverup culture can stop or
[06:09] that Bethl will just, you know, people
[06:12] will stop listening to Bethl. stop
[06:14] promoting Bethl and it just seems like
[06:17] these organizations and ministries are
[06:20] just falling one by one. Obviously,
[06:22] everything happened with IHOP and it was
[06:25] just disgusting and heartbreaking to
[06:27] hear the stories coming out of IHOP. And
[06:29] I truly believe that Bethl is having its
[06:31] moment as well. And I'm really hoping
[06:33] that this message will spread far and
[06:36] wide because I've also had a lot of
[06:38] people in my DMs ask me, "How do I stop
[06:41] my family member from going to Bethl?"
[06:44] They want to go to Bethl School of
[06:46] Supernatural Ministry. And I feel like
[06:48] there's nothing that I can say that will
[06:50] stop them. And my hope is that all of
[06:53] this coming out now will make it a lot
[06:56] easier for people to do research on
[06:58] Bethl. Because when I joined Bethl back
[07:00] in 2012, there was very little about it
[07:04] online or criticisms. It wasn't as easy
[07:06] to find with social media not being as
[07:09] much as it is today. So, my hope is that
[07:12] people are going to be able to find this
[07:14] information easier and see Bethl for
[07:17] what it really is, which is a
[07:19] disgusting, awful cover up organization.
[07:22] And did I mention that it is 100% all
[07:25] about ๐Ÿ“„ **Full text:** ![[Full Document Contents/Articles/Bethel Church & Shawn Bolz Scandal Part 2|Bethel Church & Shawn Bolz Scandal: Part 2, YouTube]] ## Document Notes ## Highlights - Bethl School of Supernatural Ministry is the cult that I joined when I was 18 years old.
