The creator demonstrates 8 different fuzz settings while explaining their decision to sell the pedal after minimal use over 5 years. The demonstration transitions into a detailed critique of Reverb's customer service, citing ownership changes from Chicago Music Exchange to Etsy as a turning point. Multiple problematic transactions are described, including broken amplifiers, damaged guitars, and account suspension issues, all compounded by ineffective automated customer support systems. ## ๐Ÿ—’๏ธ Notes #### โฑ๏ธ [00:00](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=0) โ€” [H1] Introduction to Bliss Factory pedal - Key idea: Collaboration between Zvex and Chase Bliss combining Fuzz Factory with advanced controls - Evidence: "It's essentially the Fuzz Factory with all the cool controls and the ramping and MIDI controllability" #### โฑ๏ธ [01:30](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=90) โ€” [H2] Underutilized gear decision - Key idea: Selling barely-used pedal owned for 5 years due to lack of practical use - Evidence: "I've had it for about 5 years...I've only used it three or four times" #### โฑ๏ธ [02:15](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=135) โ€” [H1] Local consignment alternative - Key idea: Choosing local guitar store consignment over online marketplaces - Evidence: "It's at the guitar shop in Pittsburgh right now...prices on Reverb are astronomical" #### โฑ๏ธ [02:45](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=165) โ€” [H2] Demo format and engagement - Key idea: Structured demonstration of 8 preset sounds for viewer engagement - Evidence: "Let's continue with eight of my favorite sounds from the Bliss Factory" #### โฑ๏ธ [03:00](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=180) โ€” [H1] Sound demonstration begins - Key idea: Extended musical demonstration of various fuzz factory settings - Evidence: [Multiple musical segments with "Heat" vocal effects throughout] #### โฑ๏ธ [12:30](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=750) โ€” [H2] Reverb marketplace criticism introduction - Key idea: Pattern of negative experiences with Reverb's customer service - Evidence: "I've been burned on reverb a lot lately, and the customer service is basically non-existent" #### โฑ๏ธ [13:00](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=780) โ€” [H3] Christmas Deluxe Reverb incident - Key idea: Broken amplifier purchase with no recourse due to return policy timing - Evidence: "It showed up broken...past the return date by like a day...huge ground hum and the reverb channel screeches" #### โฑ๏ธ [14:00](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=840) โ€” [H2] Ownership change impact - Key idea: Service decline attributed to corporate ownership changes - Evidence: "owned by Chicago Music Exchange...purchased by Etsy...just want to maximize what they're getting" #### โฑ๏ธ [14:30](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=870) โ€” [H3] Automated support problems - Key idea: Ineffective chatbot systems replacing human customer service - Evidence: "chatbot death spiral with some automated program that you can't ask a question to" #### โฑ๏ธ [15:00](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=900) โ€” [H3] Epiphone Casino incident - Key idea: Severely damaged guitar sold as excellent condition with minimal compensation - Evidence: "smelling so bad...headstock had obviously been chewed on...D-string tuner was ripped out...got 50 bucks back" #### โฑ๏ธ [16:00](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=960) โ€” [H2] Account suspension mystery - Key idea: Sudden account suspension with unexplained charges and no support access - Evidence: "account all of a sudden just completely suspended...bill for $384...couldn't get in contact with anyone" #### โฑ๏ธ [17:30](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=1050) โ€” [H3] Transaction system failures - Key idea: Repeated technical failures in address processing despite multiple attempts - Evidence: "tried it a third time...still it showed up with the wrong address...same exact issue with him" #### โฑ๏ธ [19:00](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=1140) โ€” [H2] Local alternative commitment - Key idea: Permanent shift to local consignment over online marketplaces - Evidence: "I'm just done with them...happily using Pittsburgh area guitar stores selling stuff on consignment" #### โฑ๏ธ [19:30](https://youtu.be/wNtqli2ooU0?t=1170) โ€” [H1] Conclusion and engagement - Key idea: Wrap-up with viewer engagement request and channel promotion - Evidence: "Thanks so much for watching...Let me know what your favorite sound was" ## ๐Ÿ“š References - [Chase Bliss Audio Official](https://chaseblissaudio.com/) - [Zvex Effects](https://www.zvex.com/) - [Reverb Marketplace](https://reverb.com/) ## ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Paraphrase - The Bliss Factory pedal combines classic fuzz factory circuitry with modern Chase Bliss control features, but remains underutilized by the owner despite its capabilities - Reverb marketplace has experienced significant service quality decline following corporate ownership changes, particularly affecting customer support accessibility - Local consignment sales offer more reliable alternatives to online marketplaces when dealing with valuable musical equipment ## ๐Ÿ“ฐ Newsletter **Gear Demo Highlights Marketplace Challenges** This week's featured demo showcases the impressive Chase Bliss Fuzz Factory collaboration while highlighting growing concerns about online marketplace reliability. Hasty generalization: Few personal experiences extrapolated to entire platform performance - Post hoc reasoning: Ownership change timing may not directly cause all service issues #### Tone of voice - Overall tone: Conversational and frustrated but fair, personal experience-based rather than accusatory ### ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ DARVO Analysis - Deny: No denial patterns present - acknowledges personal role in transactions - Attack: Criticism focuses on systems and policies rather than individuals - Reverse victim/offender: No victim-blaming; takes responsibility for platform choice - Emotional cues and rhetoric: Frustration expressed through personal stories rather than inflammatory language ## ๐ŸŽฏ Conclusion The video effectively demonstrates the Bliss Factory's capabilities while providing valuable cautionary insights about marketplace platform reliability. The creator's shift to local consignment reflects broader community concerns about corporate consolidation's impact on specialized customer service. For musicians and gear enthusiasts, the key takeaway is the importance of evaluating platform stability and support quality alongside pricing when choosing sales channels. ## ๐Ÿงฑ Refactor Appendix ### ๐Ÿ“š Literature Split Pad Purpose: Stage CEE units that become Literature notes. I don't
[09:37] know about you guys, but I've been
[09:39] burned on reverb a lot lately, and the
[09:41] customer service is basically
[09:43] non-existent. Uh, I think the last straw
[09:45] for me was a Deluxe that my wife bought
[09:48] for me for Christmas. It was so nice of
[09:50] her, and uh uh we were talking about
[09:52] what what I might want. And I was like,
[09:54] I've always wanted a Deluxe, a Fender
[09:55] Deluxe Reverb. And uh I told her, just
[09:58] go buy one on reverb that says it's in
[10:00] good shape. You'll save some money. And
[10:03] uh she picked out this really cool one
[10:04] with like the tweed covering on the face
[10:07] and like the burgundy sides. It was a
[10:09] limited edition color from maybe 10
[10:11] years ago or so. And it showed up
[10:12] broken. And because it was a Christmas
[10:14] present, it was past the return date by
[10:17] like a day. Even though I had filmed the
[10:20] video like on Christmas Day of it
[10:22] malfunctioning, it has this huge ground
[10:24] hum and the reverb channel screeches.
[10:30] [music]
[10:44] You know, I've been using Reverb for
[10:45] like 13, 14 years since it came out or
[10:48] since I became aware of it. Anyway, uh
[10:50] it was owned by Chicago Music Exchange
[10:52] for a while and in the last two years,
[10:54] it was purchased by Etsy. Huge company
[10:57] and I think probably it's owned by some
[10:59] like huge market value stock people in
[11:03] New York or something that just want to
[11:04] maximize what they're getting out of the
[11:06] company. So, the the customer support's
[11:08] non-existent. You can't talk with
[11:10] anyone. At least in the last couple
[11:12] times that I've tried to to, you know,
[11:14] when I had an issue, you just you end up
[11:16] in a chatbot death spiral with some
[11:18] automated program that you can't ask a
[11:20] question to and it doesn't understand
[11:22] what your issue is. Yeah. There was the
[11:24] Epohone casino I bought last year,
[11:26] Korean model. They're not cheap. If
[11:27] you're if you're aware of that kind of
[11:29] generation of of the arch tops Epophone
[11:31] was making, it showed up smelling so
[11:34] bad. I don't know what was going on
[11:36] there. It was disgusting. I literally
[11:38] Clorox wiped it. The headstock had
[11:41] obviously been chewed on by some sort of
[11:43] animal. Uh, and the D-string tuner was
[11:45] ripped out. It was sold as excellent
[11:47] condition and the pictures were taken in
[11:50] such a way to avoid this. I got 50 bucks
[11:52] back. So, thanks Reverb for that one.
[11:54] Uh, and then the worst one was uh like
[11:57] mid December, just about a month ago. My
[11:59] account all of a sudden just completely
[12:01] suspended and uh they gave me a bill for
[12:04] $384 and some change. And I was like,
[12:06] what? like what is that from? I haven't
[12:08] sold anything in a month or two. Um and
[12:11] I couldn't get in contact with anyone.
[12:13] Like you you start the chatbot situation
[12:16] and it's just a death spiral cuz the the
[12:18] thing doesn't understand what the actual
[12:20] issue is. I'm like I'm just trying to
[12:21] figure out what this charge is and you
[12:23] can't look at anything on the site when
[12:24] your account's suspended except for the
[12:27] invoice except to pay the invoice.
[12:28] That's the only screen you can look at.
[12:30] So I don't know what it's for. I'm not
[12:32] sure why I'm being charged it or why my
[12:33] account was like immediately suspended
[12:35] when I was never notified of this this
[12:37] charge that I had. It ended up being
[12:39] that a set of microphones that I had
[12:41] tried to sell in November had been
[12:43] listed for a little bit. Someone
[12:45] messaged me. We agreed on a price and he
[12:47] sent payment over uh about a minute
[12:49] later. He's like, "Oh, no wait, sorry.
[12:51] That's my old address." I tried to
[12:53] change it. Didn't work. Uh so we ended
[12:55] up canceling the transaction. I relisted
[12:58] it. He fixed his information. I know he
[13:00] fixed it. He went to buy it again and
[13:02] still it came through with his old
[13:03] address and I'm not able to change
[13:05] anything as the seller. We tried it a
[13:07] third time. He fixed some other settings
[13:10] in like his PayPal or Apple Pay or
[13:12] whatever. Double checked it in Reverb.
[13:14] It should have came out fine and still
[13:15] it showed up with the wrong address. So,
[13:17] same exact issue with him. He couldn't
[13:19] get in contact with the real person to
[13:20] like figure this out. It was a chatbot.
[13:22] It was like an automated situation. So,
[13:25] I don't know what's going on at Reverb
[13:26] lately, but between all those situations
[13:28] and finally the last straw with the
[13:30] Deluxe, I just feel bad for my wife. I
[13:32] think that's that's the main thing. I'm
[13:34] just done with them. I'm going to be
[13:36] happily using, you know, Pittsburgh area
[13:40] guitar stores selling stuff on
[13:42] consignment. But honestly, at this
[13:43] point, I don't see any reason to be
[13:45] dealing with reverb. So, that's the long
[13:47] story you didn't ask for. We'll see if
[13:49] the Ibanz ends up. It's a It's a 1993
[13:52] RG550 peak hair metal era. It's super
[13:55] cool. Yeah. Thanks so much for watching
[13:57] the video and listening through my rant
[13:58] if you stuck around. Uh if you enjoyed
[14:00] this type of thing, I have a ton of
[14:02] videos in this format on my channel.
[14:03] Like, subscribe, all that stuff. It
[14:05] helps me out.
