## ๐ Summary:
- Bridget Willard reviews **Rocket.net** from a practitionerโs lens, highlighting **free migrations**, **high uptime**, **human support**, and **Cloudflare-backed CDN** as decisive advantages for **small business sites and agencies** ([0:58โ1:06](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=58), [1:53โ2:11](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=113)).
- She contrasts **$30/mo starter** and **$100/mo business** tiers, arguing price reflects business seriousness vs. hobby cost-cutting ([3:53โ4:47](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=233)).
- Templates and site cloning in the dashboard **accelerate repeatable builds** for local services (e.g., handyman, realtor) while keeping **domain registration separate** from hosting for **portability** ([6:38โ7:22](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=398), [9:23โ10:10](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=563)).
- She discloses an **affiliate link** and shares agency pricing math (resell margin, 30-day guarantee) ([0:43โ0:50](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=43), [13:10โ14:01](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=790)).

## ๐ Main Content:
- **Positioning.** Bridget frames Rocket.net as a **managed WordPress host** that emphasizes **reliability (99.99% uptime)**, **support by humans**, and **speed via enterprise CDN**โaimed at a **tech-savvy owner or freelancer/agency** who values time and consistent ops ([1:53โ2:11](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=113), [3:33โ3:50](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=213)).
- **Operations & Workflow.**
- **Free migrations** remove friction; **automated daily backups** + recommending **a second backup (UpdraftPlus โ Dropbox)** follows the **3-2-1** backup spirit ([0:58โ1:06](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=58), [3:46โ4:06](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=226)).
- **Templates / cloning** speed niche builds; she demonstrates creating a site from a **handyman** template, then โMad Libsโ client-specific fields (name, county, phone) ([6:47โ7:20](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=407), [10:46โ12:08](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=646)).
- **Business Rationale.**
- Argues **paying more** than bargain hosts is rational if the site is core to revenue; **$30/mo** as a seriousness threshold for a business website ([4:16โ4:47](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=256)).
- Shares **agency resell** model (e.g., charging $25 management + $15 hosting) and appreciating deductible expenses in an LLC ([13:10โ13:25](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=790), [5:41โ5:52](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=341)).
- **Portability & Open Source.**
- Recommends **separating registrar and host** (e.g., GoDaddy/Namecheap for domains; Rocket.net for hosting) to avoid **transfer friction / lock-in** ([1:11โ1:28](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=71), [9:23โ10:10](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=563)).
- Connects to **WordPress portability ethos** vs. vendor lock-in in closed SaaS stacks ([10:05โ10:22](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=605)).
### ๐๏ธ Notes

## ๐ฃ๏ธ Paraphrase:
- **On separating domain & hosting** ([1:17โ1:28](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=77), [9:23โ10:10](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=563))
*Original intent*: Keep your registrar separate from your host to protect control and simplify transfers.
*Paraphrase*: Register domains with a registrar (e.g., GoDaddy/Namecheap) and host elsewhere; splitting roles reduces lock-in risk and streamlines future migrations.
- **On pricing mindset** ([4:16โ4:47](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFX_e2Afz1k&t=256))
*Original intent*: If $30/mo feels excessive, reassess whether the site is a business asset or a hobby.
*Paraphrase*: Treat hosting as **operational infrastructure**โif a minimal monthly fee strains the model, the business plan likely needs rethinking.

- Summary: I have been a Rocket.net customer since 2021 and I love it. I've built sites for other companies on this platform as well as within my own hosting plans as part of my marketing services.
I've used SiteGround, Pressable, SiteDistrict before as well as WPEngine, DreamHost and others for other clients. I wouldn't even offer WordPress builds and hosting if I didn't have my plan.
I really like the Business Plan with the site templates.
Free migrations. (Take my money!)

Hi everyone. This is your friend Bridget Willard with Bridgetwillard.com. I want to talk to you about rocket.net. Uh if you've been seeing any of the news, you saw that they have partnered with hosting.com. I have been using them for three years, I believe. I've also used site ground. I've also used um site district. I've also used pressible.
This is the easiest way for a techsavvy business owner to have their own website. Um if you go to my affiliate link, I will get affiliate commission and you get awesome hosting. So, thank you very much for that. Um, you can they have free Okay, they have free migrations. You cannot know how
great a free migration is until you've had to figure out how to do this stuff on your own. All right. And I will say as my disclaimer that you should have your hosting separate from your domain name. Meaning buy your domain name from GoDaddy or Namecheep, but keep your hosting totally separate. Why? because if you just you
want to protect those different pathways. Um, Rocket has a crazy high uptime. I never have problems with any of the sites I build with my site on mobile or anything and it's pretty cool. I'm going to show you some of the behind the scenes, my dashboard. Now, I'm going go over to the pricing page real quick. And they have two months free with annual pricing which is nice especially they have real people
who are doing support. It's not an AI bot. They're actual humans. I've had to use their support. uh which is one of the reasons why I decided to go with the business plan and and do local business websites and and charge for that as well as offering content and Twitter management x whatever because if I run into a problem they're there for me. I've I
haven't had to use it very often. Um, I mostly had to use it on my own site when I had trouble with Easy Digital Downloads, but they solved it. They found the problem. I love this host. So, if you want to be on the business plan and you pay annually, it's $83 a month. But I'm a monthly person. I like my finances and I like my nut to be the
same every month. So, I like to know what it costs me to be in business. I'm fine paying the $100 a month for my business plan, a dollar the first month. You get 10 sites, unlim unlimited or unmetered visitors, 40 gigabytes of storage, which seems to be a lot. I don't have any trouble. 300 gigabytes of bandwidth u unlimited PHP workers 99.99%
uptime SSL it's just standard uh enterprise CDN with Cloudflare this is not the same as Cloudflare by itself okay um malware protection free migrations automated daily backups um I also have updraft plus that goes goes to my Dropbox. If you don't have more than one backup, do you even have a backup? I also use um backup place for
my actual computer. Anyway, um if they support all these PHP versions if you just want the um regular um starter pack, and this is where I started to be honest, $30 a month. Now, if you're comparing this to commodity hosting that's like HostGator or something like that, that's like $6 or $7 a month. You know, this is your
business. This is your business. Um, you should want to pay for it to be alive. If if $30 is too much for your business to pay um to be online, then you should rethink whether or not you have a business or a hobby. Just saying. Um and uh yeah, I'm going to just stand stand there. But then I
had people were like, "Well, can you build me uh a website?" It's like, "Sure." I mean, it's not going to be fancy or anything, but it's going to work. So, I started building websites. Um, I started building it for my ex, Michael, uh, who's a handyman in Door County, Wisconsin, and he got so much business from that. Um, actually there was a Reddit thread for Door County and somebody wanted to know who they used for a handyman and I said, "Oh, here's
Michael's website and he's gotten a lot of money off of that and I've gotten some commissions because that was our deal." So anyway, I did move up to the business plan and frankly um it's kind of nice to have more expenses when you have an LLC because you want to reduce your tax liability. So there's that, too. Anyway, so let's go. So I logged in. I have seven sites of my 10. I'm only using the six
gigabytes of the 40. So, it's all of those sites combined. U had 7,000 visitors and I'm only I'm barely using any bandwidth at all. Okay. So, this tells you like where all the um servers are that we chose and whatnot and um and everything like that. You can go to the dashboard here. You can manage
um the site and everything like that. No problem. But then what I if I want to create a site, they have these things called templates. You'll see it down here in your where it says Bridget. Oops, move my face. And you'll have site templates right there. And I have a couple. one I didn't really mess around with too much, but um this is my handyman
uh template where I based it on Michael Grub's website and it tells me all the themes and plugins I have in there and um and I can just, you know, make a new site right here from that. So, that's the cool thing about having a template. It's not just um it's not just about wherever it is. Maybe they're in Germany or something.
Then that means when I choose that location, that means people my my customers are mostly in Germany. So, I mostly want them to be there. I'm going to build from that handyman. Um, and the site name is going to be me and I'll use password.
And then you have some choices if you want uh other things. But I'm using a template and I don't want all that. I want the plugins I want. So, if you saw my tweet um earlier, um maybe two weeks ago, I met a realtor and I just decided to build her a site because I found her domain. I found her
name as a domain name. And so, I just did it for free based upon what was on her um what was on her Facebook cuz, you know, it's a friend of a friend. And so I thought I would try that and then I'll meet with her and see if she wants to have any more of my services. But I kind of like this um templated new site. It's kind of cool that way. And then um the other thing I really
like about Rocket is that if I need to migrate a site, which I have, I have a customer who is um who was with DreamHost and he did that thing where you buy your domain name and your hosting together. Why that is problematic is because you may get the free domain name. Domain names aren't expensive. It's like $12 a month.
I mean, unless it's like one that's already been purchased, right? So, domain names are not a big deal. So, uh as far as an expense, you pay it yearly. But they held on to that domain name. They held on to that hosting, you know, the domain name because I transferred it to NameCheep, my NameCheep account. Um, they held on to it for the full 30 days. Like, they
didn't want they make it hard to leave. And that's the whole thing with WordPress and open source is that you have portability. You're not locked into Salesforce or you're not locked into Oracle or you're not locked into Workday. you're not locked into Microsoft 365 and these these systems that that are parasitic in the end as you scale, right? So you're anyway so here it is and I can I can go ahead and
go to my WP admin and I can view the site. So this is this is the site that's no this is the template. Okay. though I can do a handyman site. Super easy. All I need to do is do a Mad Lib and change
all this. It It would be the new person's name. It would be the other county. It would be a different tagline, a different picture, the county name. Um you make sure all of that is true, right? And um yeah, change some pictures. Easy peasy, right? We need, you know, a a review right here and then your phone
number. I mean, it's just that easy. And then when I'm looking at my plugins, you know, of course I have launch with words in here. um which is my plugin because I have posts. And then I'll look at the posts. See if it automatically brought those over. Yeah, it did. So it cloned the whole site basically. So which is helpful if
you're staying in a niche in a niche in a niche. The riches are in the niches. See that doesn't work. The riches are in the niches. So anyway, so you could do that. You can change the author, change all this stuff. It's super easy that way. So, um, that's really cool feature. And not everybody talks about it on Rocket. Um, I'm going to go back to my dashboard. So, now it says I have eight
sites and six G gigabytes. Let's see. Let's delete that that test template. Oops. Oh, yeah. There's Adderum on these, too. So, it's kind of cool. You get it for this. I mean, all the stuff you get
just by being on this plan is way more worth. It's way worth it. And like for me, I charge $25 um to host somebody's sites plus 15, you know, $25 to manage it, $15 a month to host it. I'm only paying 10, so I'm just getting extra, right? So, and then it includes Adim. So, like this is like way too cool, you know? It'd be like uh
change the name to this blah blah. Like this is a problem. uh change the name, whatever. You know, I don't use Adom very much because I collaborate with myself, but you could, you know, you could do it. So, anyway, that's my quick and easy review of rocket.net. Um, you do have a 30 back 30-day money back guarantee. Um, I'm not sure find
something that you don't like. and my my um ref equals Bridget Willard. So if if you if you don't see this link, it's rocket.net/ref equals question mark rep equals Bridget Willard. It could be any of these pages. It could be, you know, blog hosting, agency hosting. It doesn't matter. It's
the It's the last part that matters. Refals Bridget Willard. You got to stay for 60 days for me to get the money. And anyway, thanks for watching. Bye., Bridget Willard Reviews Rocket.net Hosting, Bridget Willard -- SaaS Marketing Consultant, 01k5ffvtby5sve193kbqhyqrwc.
