Turn record. Okay. Hey everyone. It is Tuesday, February 17th. We're just chatting about it being kind of a low energy day. A lot of us aren't feeling well. So, we will just do our best here. I'm going to share this um agenda. We have a light agenda, too, so that's probably good. I want to just share that window. There we go. Okay. It is um the year of the firehorse
which is a special year and it's also the start of Marty GR and something else. There's like eclipses like there's a solar eclipse happening today somewhere. Yeah, it's like a lot going on. So, I'm just curious if folks do celebrate the lunar new year. If you do, I want to hear about it. I want to hear what your kind of yourh traditions are and and such. Um, I don't celebrate, but I do read up on things.
So, I just read about things. I can't even I don't even know. Um, yeah, the fire horse is a special year. So, you should look into that if you if you haven't heard of that. It's the year of uh burning it down. So, burning down your stable they say and then running forward. So, that's good.
Um, yeah. So, just want to shout out Adrienne Lawson for being the new working group leader for um the funding impact group. And thank you to Kaen for Ka Kaen. How do I say his name? I always say it wrong, Don. I think it's Kayn, but everybody pronounces it differently and he doesn't seem to be too fussed about it. >> Okay. Sorry, Kayn. >> Heart heart. >> That might be wrong because like I said, everybody says it a little differently.
>> I actually Googled it before this meeting because I wanted to say it right and there were like four different ways. So, I was like, "Okay, not actually sure." I'm so sorry. Um, yes. Well, thank you to Kaylin for the uh amazing leadership that he has brought to the group for the past what year, two years. So, >> yeah, he helped us he helped us start it. So, >> start it. Yeah. So, thank you. >> I was launched at Chaos Con last year, so it's been about a year. >> Ah, that's right. That's right. So, yes, very uh been very impactful time here at
Chaos. And Adrian um is going to be equally as amazing. I can tell. I know. So, uh, Don, is there anything else to add? >> No, just that Kaylin got an awesome new job at a startup and just doesn't have time for it anymore. So, you know, it was no nothing against chaos. He just doesn't have time for it. And so, Adrian stepped up to help us out. Fair, fair, fair. We wish him all the best in that new role. That's exciting.
Um, secondly is we have I do have a new working group. Right now, it's just a Slack channel. Um, Adrienne is leading that and I don't see him on the meeting today. >> Um, Cali, are you involved in that? >> Okay. >> I'm not, but I'm aware. I I know what's going on. Um, and I would whether this ends up being a longterm working group or something that kind of merges into
like the Augur 8 not working group is pretty I would say up in the air. Um right now it meets actually directly after the augur and a um and a not working group meeting. Um this is working on trying to like do a GitHub action is like kind of the initial scope of it for um AI B like detection for then we can then measure the AI like do analysis around AI contributions in the
future or if you're trying to monitor within your own instance the contributions and things like that and so I can talk about it at that level. Um but yeah, and I think there's a lot of um activity around it. Um especially with the I don't know how familiar people are with the Matt plot lib situation that happened last week. Um but um if you're not, you should look into it. It's entertaining, funny, and
scary. Um, with an agent um opening a PR, closing like they getting closes was against the the the um the community guidelines and then the agent started writing a bunch of blog posts. One of them like bashing the maintainer and then um talking about discrimination and against AI agents. And so it's a crazy little situation that happened over at Mattplot Lib.
>> Machines are taking over and not in a good way. >> That is wild. That is >> Look into it. Trust me, it's I I could talk about I have to like contain myself because this is like my thing that I keep on wanting to talk to everybody about because I think it's crazy. I I'm struggling to I'm struggling to wrap my head around it. But that is I I Yeah, I'm definitely going to look into that. I'm going to read about that because what is happening? Oh my gosh,
we're at that level now. >> When you were you >> when Yeah, we are already there. when you um were starting that conversation, I was wondering if it was going to be a um a situation where a an AI agent was opening a PR and another AI agent was just immediately closing it. It was just like kept repeating like I thought it was just like a flood. I thought that's what you were going I had no idea it was going to go all the way to blog posts and discrimination. Wow, that's wild.
Um, okay. So, if you are interested in working on this action, GitHub action or you know, kind of just thinking about this, um, here's the Slack channel you can go to right here. Um, we are going to have a meeting for them. It'll be right after the augur meeting and I think it will start next time. I think actually it started today kind of unofficially. >> Okay. Um, but we'll have more like we'll
we'll get our stuff together a little bit better for next time. Um, and we'll promote it a little better. So, yeah. So, if you want to join, that's where you can do it. And then just stick around after the augur meeting and keep chatting. Cali, anything else to add? >> Um, not that I can think of. >> Okay, excellent. Um, we don't have anything else on the
formal agenda here. Um, but I did want to point this out to these two things. Um, OSSNA closes today, I think, in like 2 hours. So, if you haven't put in a CFP and you want to, you should do that sooner than later. Uh, and then All Things Opened um did open their CFP and they have a new format this year, which is kind of interesting. Um if you haven't seen this, they're um shortening the uh conference to two days. It was uh
previously three and they have um Monday is going to be all of this happening. Um so workshops and things like that, that's all happening on Monday. So good luck trying to decide where you belong because there's a lot of cool stuff there. Um and colllocated events and things. And then um Tuesday is going to be the actual day of just regular talks and 20 tracks. So again, good luck trying to figure out which one you want
to pick. Um as I'm sure there are going to be overlaps between awesome things. So um but that's what they're doing. Uh it's a little bit easier for folks um to to make it instead of having to, you know, block off an extra whole day in the calendar. So, um, you can find their CFP here just at the 2026 all things.org and this is another good conference happening obviously in the fall. So,
yeah, it's a good conference. Any questions about either of those or comments? If you scroll down just a teeny bit, there's one more reminder that Oh, >> slid off the page. There we go. >> I added the ASF's community over code um is going to be in Scotland this year and the CFP deadline's the 20th of March. >> Awesome. Awesome. Thank you, Don, for adding that. I had not heard that. So amazing. And that's another great
conference. Is um Brian still involved in that in organizing that? >> Yes. Brian as an individual, not Brian the Red. >> Red Hat. Okay, perfect. Thanks for that clarification. Yeah. So, you know, it's going to be good if he's involved. Okay. Anything else to chitchat about? This is a one of the shorter meetings
that we've had in a while, but that's okay. >> Hi, Elizabeth. >> Hi. Is that Adinka? Yes, it is. >> Yes. Yes. I just want to remind Don about the introduction to open source um communities. >> Okay. >> Sorry. I will put that on my to-do list because I did tell you I would do that and then I forgot because it wasn't on my to-do list. >> It's okay. Okay. I sent you a DM also. So, >> okay. I will I I'll put that on my to-do
list. I'll do that tomorrow or Thursday. Okay. Promise. >> Thank you very much. Thank you. And Elizabeth, we have a recording um on the cloud that was like um I think two weeks ago for project budget DEI working group meeting. >> Okay, I will find that. Um I am a little behind on those. Um but you typically don't record those, right? Or do you? I don't >> Yeah, we don't. But what happened that
day, I had to walk people through um the project version. So we decided to record so that other people can listen to it um >> and know about Puja. >> Okay. Excellent. >> Okay. Okay. I want to share it in the channel for the outreach ambassadors. I'm asking >> and like Don, I'm now adding that to my to-do list to make sure it doesn't that it gets done because that is like I
kind of just follow whatever is on there. So, if it's not on there, there's not a good chance that it's going to happen. So, let me just make sure. Um, okay. Thanks, Adinka. >> Thank you. >> Anything else before we end the meeting? Okay, you can have your time back everybody. I hope you have a great rest of your week. Feel better everybody.
I'll talk to you later. Bye everybody. >> Bye everyone., CHAOSS Weekly Community Call, Feb 17, 2026, YouTube, 01kp8hdzv1bexyzv29fpmesn2c.
