Okay. Hi everybody. It's Tuesday again, March 3rd, and you're here at the Oh, I still have February 24th. I just realized that it's not February 24th. >> March 3rd. There we go. >> Sorry. Copy paste error. Um, yeah. Glad to see you all here. I'm glad that we didn't have the wrong day or time. Sean and I >> question. We were wondering. >> So, I'm glad y'all came. Um, if you want to add your name to the uh agenda and
just tell us your favorite way to exercise. I'm always looking for something fun to do. I keep hoping to get that thing that's going to motivate me to get up at 5:00 a.m. like Matt does. I don't I haven't found that yet. >> You have to go to bed at You have to go to bed at 8. That's the first thing you have to find. >> I don't know if that's going to happen either. So, >> okay. So, obviously, uh, you all found the new minutes. Um, we do have this handy dandy uh link and that takes you to the new
minutes which is the same doc and it's going to take you to this kind of index page. It's not very pretty. We can make it prettier. It's fine. Um, but yeah, so that way we can find everything we need and when we change from year to year, we can just change the doc that it is uh forwarding to. So, yay. Thank you, Adrian, wherever you are for that idea and for walking through that with me. So, any questions on that?
We also do have this link that does not work yet because I haven't set it up yet. So, it will just be nothing, but it will have a list of all the years. Um, right now we save them all in our Google Drive under the chaos account, but um it, you know, it'd be nice to surface them all in one place. So, that's what we're going to do. And that will then we'll just add, you know, the each year to that dock. Easy peasy. >> Lemon squeezy. >> Lemon squeezy. That's right.
Any other any comments? Anything before we move on? It's pretty straightforward, I guess. Okay. Um, the next thing I wanted to actually before I do this, I'm gonna just remind everybody that daylight savings is this weekend for the US. So, it's gonna mess up everybody's schedule throughout the world. This is awesome. Uh, just a reminder, these meetings that are listed here will change for you if
you have not observed daylight savings yet or if you're in a place that does not do it at all. They will they will change for you. So just, you know, if you're used to coming here at the same time, um, just maybe double check. So the calendar is correct. So whatever the calendar says is is the source of truth. Um, these folks will not change. So if you're in a place that does change and you're trying to attend any of these, it's going to be different for you. Likewise with the Chaos Asia meeting and
package metadata. So yeah, fun times. Anybody have any questions on any of this stuff? Happy to answer what I can. >> So, how big of a for you? How big of a pain is this? I'm just thinking like for the future, you know what I mean? As you're >> Yeah, it's it's really not a pain at all for me. Uh, mostly it's just communicating to folks that don't either
either have copied something to their calendar or don't, you know, pay attention or just like on kind of autopilot and just show up at a different time. Um, especially if they're in a place that >> does not follow daylight savings with the US. That's really and and they're attending any of these central meetings. Um, yeah, it's really just that just communicating to folks, but the calendar does it all. Okay. >> Magically. So, >> what about like the Chaos Africa design sync? Like how does it not do those? Is
that all just part of the software? >> It is. So, when you set up um u when you set up a new meeting >> um and I have all this documented so no one panic. Um when you set up a new meeting, >> you um need to make sure that the calendar that you're looking at in teamup is based on what time you want it or what time zone you want it to to be with. So if I open up team up team team up I will change the time to be like West Africa time and then I add my event
and it thinks that okay this is a meeting that goes on West Africa time. >> Okay. >> So it will change automatically. So that's really the only thing you have to worry about is when you're setting up something new make sure that you're like >> I got like you're a person in that time zone. So you want to make sure Yeah. >> Okay. Okay. we could make and we could make, you know, if if in the future if that's too much uh to worry about, we could certainly do something like, you know, changing everything to UTC or whatever,
you know, but >> No, no, no. What you described makes sense. I just I wasn't sure like where that um like identifier is and it sounds like it's when you set the meeting up. >> It is. Yeah. Um, we can look real quick. So, you can see that uh for me if I am in So, I have it set to it. For me, it just was up UTC. That's what I did last time. So, you can change it to whatever time zone you're in. I am in
Where am I? I'm in Eastern. Where are you? Eastern. Oh my gosh. Okay, this is Oh, nope. I don't want to be in Arizona. could be nice right now. >> There it is. I know, right? I know. Um, so for me, you'll see that like none of these or the ones that are on um my time don't change, but the ones that are not should change for me.
>> Okay. >> Right. >> Okay. >> Maybe. Yeah, >> I gotcha. So, like this one, I don't know why this one's not changing, but the 6 a.m. A cast Africa is now 7 a.m. for me. >> Not sure why this one's not, but yeah. So, you get it. You get it. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Any other questions about the time stuff?
I will also say that I hate daylight saving. However, this year it happens on my birthday. So, I get an extra hour on my birthday. So, I will allow it one more year so that I can have an extra year on my birthday. >> Excuse me. >> You lose an hour, don't >> we lose? >> Oh, no. It's back in the fall. It's in the fall. >> Oh, okay. >> So, it's a it's a fall back. Yeah. Not not this. Not Not right now. I don't want it in in Yeah. Okay.
Um All right. So, the next thing on this is I just wanted to bring this up since I am kind of phasing out my engagement and involvement and chaos somewhat uh over the next few weeks until I kind of find a a um what's the word I want. >> A good balance. >> A what? >> Rhythm. >> A rhythm. Yeah, there you go. Um just kind of a you know because I did start my other gig as well. So, this month is kind of crazy for me and it's kind of like transitioning out of one into
something else. So, um I wanted to see what we thought about um rotating facilitators for this meeting in particular. >> I think it's a good idea unless somebody wants to take it over, but um it's probably better to rotate it. I think >> we used to rotate. Do you remember the DEI meeting? >> Mhm. We used to rotate that like weekly. That was Kayorg's idea. It worked pretty well.
>> And so with um with rotating, is it does it include coming up with the agenda as well? What are the expectations? >> Yeah. Yeah. So, good question. We have a guide here that we wrote a long time ago. Um I guess I haven't read it, so I don't know if it's still up to date. >> We can do that. But I think it pretty much is. It basically just says, you know, um find the agenda doc, copy
the agenda list of attendees from the last meeting and put it at the top. Um it is an open agenda, so it's kind of yes, you can think of things to put on there, but it's doesn't have to just be you. You can make sure that people know and actually would appreciate other other people putting things on the agenda. Um, and then also there's also like if there were things from last time that we wanted to keep talking about, you could put that on there. Um, and then we had done this for the DEI
meeting so that you could, you know, pick the next facilitator to put that on the agenda so you didn't forget. Um, yeah. So, um, the only question I had is if we if we do want to do this, uh, awesome. Uh the there's two options really. We can do it week to week if we like or we can do like have a a sign up sheet like with you know a spreadsheet or something
that just says I'm going to do it on this day, this person's going to do it on that day. So you could volunteer in the future. But that's also uh something else that somebody needs to keep track of. So the easiest way is to just pick from week to week. But it also kind of limits who can be the facilitator for the next week I think because it's just >> been at the previous meeting, right? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Suppose the only thing that's going
through my head right now is like week to week um versus like asking somebody to do it for like a month, >> you know? So just a little bit of continuity. I I don't know what is better. That was just something that came to my mind. >> Yeah, I mean that's certainly another option for sure. And then they kind of know that they're um you know kind of on the hook for those few meetings. >> Right. Right. Right.
>> I'm trying to remember when we did it in the DEI meeting like if we had a period of time where like we had to like get back into the rhythm, you know, like what did what did Elizabeth talk about last week? Yeah. Yeah. >> True >> kind of thing. >> True. True. So we can do it week two week. We can do it sheet.
>> Yeah. >> Or we can do it for a month. I think week to week is the lowest uh lift for people, but limits. And the signup sheet is like one extra step someone has to maintain,
but it opens up all opportunity for flips. And then the month at a time is best for consistency, but it is a little more to ask. >> And honestly, maybe just put it out on at this point just put it out on general and just say, does anybody have an interest at this point? >> Yeah. Okay. in, you know, being the
facilitator, which includes setting the agenda, you know, putting a reminder in Slack, asking for agenda items, whatever it might be. >> Yeah. >> Um because there might be people who are like, I I don't know, I'd love to do that. >> Yeah, for sure. >> For an extended period of time. >> Yeah, for sure. Definitely. Is there anybody on the call today that wants to do it next week?
Totally fine if not because I know that's kind of throwing this at y'all. I don't want to put you on the spot. Don't everybody volunteer once? >> Totally fine. >> I mean, I can volunteer for next week, Elizabeth. It's just a oneweek commitment as long as somebody volunteers at the end of next meeting. >> Yeah. >> So, you have to if you can't find
somebody, then you just keep going. >> Right. That's the that's that is the trap I will not be able to fall into. >> That's the strategy. >> Someone's going to have to step up. >> Okay. Well, we'll try that. Sean. Um, I will post this on uh general. That's a really good idea. Um, just make a note here. Action item for Elizabeth. Uh, post on
general or tears. Okay, great. Does anybody have other thoughts about this? I mean, it's not without precedent in chaos, but it also is kind of without precedent for this meeting in particular. So, >> I have like a related topic, but there's
a chance that the topic might not want the recording to be on for, but I feel like there's a bit of an elephant in the room of like between this like the Sloan grants. I don't know what the status is of people getting like Sloan grants and the burgersia of it all as well of there seems to be a lot of exodus from the community right now and trying to make sure that we can balance that out. Um it's this is one of I would assume many
things that will be coming in the near future of passing off of responsibilities and things and so I don't know if that's something we want to talk about on recording or not. I >> I'm happy to just stop so we can have a a candid conversation and nobody feels weird. Yeah, let's just do that., CHAOSS Weekly Community Call, March 3, 2026, YouTube, 01kp8gyy0zxwra8df3kvn20jev.
