Growing up as an evangelical conservative, you vote straight ticket one way every four years and that is the best thing that you can do to bring the kingdom of heaven to earth is vote Republican. And yet, you know, I'm a whole life prolifer. So, yes, I got started in the pre-born space, but holistically, womb to tomb, I know that whatever anchors me in the pre-born space anchors me across all these human dignity spaces. And so I when you get engaged in human dignity issues, you start to see that what is
actually really needed to save a life, what is actually needed to help life flourish. So I I might be quote voting pro-life because I want to legislate against the violent practice of abortion, but does that vote also do what it needs to do to address root causes of abortion? is what is pro-life about how I'm voting that way versus how maybe someone on the other side, a Democrat, might be voting for, you know, universal health care or uh all the
other things that we know that are root causes that address abortion issues. And so to me, it became very curious to me. I remember during the first Trump administration, I read an article, can't remember if it was in the New York Times or not, but it said, "Is voting for Hillary Clinton more pro-life than voting for Donald Trump?" And I my first thought was, "Of course not." But I read the article and I was like, "Well, that's interesting." Because I know what the root causes are for abortion. And if
anyone's paying attention to what's going on right now under this current administration, abortion numbers are up up. Abortion pill is being mailed freely throughout the US post office system. And we just refunded Planned Parenthood, by the way. So, did we get what we wanted? Did we get what we more children are dying today than they were during the Biden administration? And so I'm so when I read that article, it's not that I thought that Hillary Clinton was more
pro-life because she's definitely pro-choice, at least on the abortion side of things, right? But it just got me thinking like I know as an adoptive mom that if my son's mother had ABCDE E, you know, if she had adequate housing, adequate health care, if she had education, if she had an intact family, if she had rehabilitation for her parents that were coming in and out of the prison system, she would likely be able to parent my son. And I'm like, what do I really need to
be focused on as someone who's deeply pro-life to save a life to keep the unity of a family? And that is so much more than just legislating away the violent practice of abortion. It's a both and, as much of life is. >> Okay. So, what part of what I hear you saying, and this has come up on our show a number of times, is regardless of how you vote, after you vote, you should use your voice
>> in the years in between >> in the years in between to advocate for as best as you can the ethic and way of Jesus. So, as it relates to immigration, for example, if you care deeply, deeply deeply about border security, my hunch is you probably voted for Donald Trump. But then after he's in office, you should be using your voice to say, "Hey, thank you for the border security, I'm going to speak up for the dignity and human rights of my neighbors, including those who are undocumented." >> If you care deeply about, say, the dignity of immigrants, you maybe voted for Joe Biden or Kla Harris in 2024. And
if she had won, >> then you should have used your voice say, "Hey, we got to get control of our of our southern border. Like this is not humane or helpful to anybody. What are you doing? What are you doing?" But what seems to happen is we vote however we vote and then the attitude is you're not allowed to criticize your own team in any way. So anything they do now gets a pass. That seems deeply unfaithful to the way of Jesus. >> Especially if they slap a Christian label on it, we should be even more critical of, hey, you're doing that in
God's name. Oh my goodness, that's not the way of Jesus. We should be deeply critical, especially if they're claiming that it's for Christian purposes or because that's morally more upright than somebody else's position.
