Want to live a longer, healthier life? [music] You've probably heard the usual advice: eat well, exercise, sleep more, and have regular medical checkups. [music] But, there's another factor researchers have studied for decades that doesn't always get talked about: [music] religion. A review of hundreds of studies, captured in Wheatley Institute's latest report, [music] The
Religion and Physical Health Connection, found that regular religious participation is often linked [music] with better health outcomes across a wide range of areas, including stress, substance use, blood pressure, immune function, and even longevity. [music] Some of that makes sense right away. Many religions encourage people to avoid risky behaviors,
>> [music] >> build self-control, and care for their bodies. But, the connection goes deeper. Religious communities can also provide individuals with something that is immensely important to their health: support. Regular religious participation [music] often means stronger social networks, less isolation, and more emotional resilience. And such factors
are powerful contributors [music] to health. Lower stress, less loneliness, and more connection are all linked to better physical [music] health over time. Of course, religion doesn't guarantee good health, and it's not a replacement for medical care, exercise, [music] or healthy habits. But, research suggests that people who are consistently involved in religious
practice, [music] especially those who attend religious services regularly, live longer, healthier lives. To learn [music] more, check out The Religion and Physical Health Connection at wheatley.byu.edu., Does Religion Impact Physical Health?, YouTube, 01kxzywfnqdm5mbsgyxvr5pb92.
