## 📝 Summary:
In this issue of Loop WP, Simon discusses the results of a poll regarding contributions to WordPress, emphasizing the concerning trend that many contributors have ceased or are considering halting their contributions. The newsletter also celebrates the positivity and dedication of the WordPress community, providing recommendations for several quality newsletters worth reading. ## 📖 Main Content:
The discussion begins with reflections on contribution to WordPress, noting a significant drop in activity as shown by the poll’s results. This decline signals a potential issue for leadership at Automattic, urging them to address why contributors feel discouraged. ## 🗣️ Paraphrase:
1. **On Contributions:** The results of my recent poll indicate that a significant portion of the WordPress community has either stopped contributing or is contemplating withdrawal. This trend should serve as a crucial alert for leaders like Matt and Automattic to reconsider the current engagement strategies.
2. **Community Spirit:** As a reminder from last week, I want to advocate for a wave of positivity. The "Rise Up" slogan signifies a collective spirit—encouraging individuals and communities to come together and support one another in our endeavors.

## ✅ Action Items:
Aligning this newsletter with my role as a Developer Advocate involves amplifying the importance of community involvement and enhancing contributor engagement through educational initiatives. Furthermore, I aim to empathize inclusivity within the open-source ecosystem, recognizing diverse voices. As I aspire to become an OSPO director, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for contributors will be paramount to my mission.
## 🧪 Hypotheses:
1. Increased awareness of contribution issues may lead to significant changes in community engagement strategies at Automattic.
2. A collaboration among WordPress newsletters could enhance sharing best practices and foster a more engaged community.
### 📊 Methodology:
- Surveys to gauge satisfaction levels among contributors.
- Analyzing engagement metrics from various newsletter sources to identify trends and opportunities.
### ❓ Questions:
- What factors are driving contributors away from participating in WordPress?
- How can we motivate dormant contributors to re-engage with the community?
### 🔮 Future Research:
Potential research areas include the psychology behind contributor burnout and the effectiveness of community engagement tools in revitalizing contributor interest.
### 💡 Implications:
Understanding contribution trends is vital for sustaining a healthy WordPress ecosystem. Community leaders must adapt their strategies to maintain an engaged and vibrant contributor base.
### 🧠 Learning Styles Assessment:
Diverse learning styles should be considered when creating educational resources. Incorporating visual, auditory, and kinesthetic elements can enhance accessibility.
### 📊 Accessibility Assessment:
Ensuring that all WordPress newsletters follow best accessibility practices is crucial. Improvements could include better Alt text for images and more descriptive headers.
### 🌍 DEIB Assessment:
A thorough examination of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging practices is necessary in the WordPress community to promote varied participation and representation.
### 🔍 Logical validity:
The arguments presented are based on valid polling data and community feedback, reflecting current trends with necessary calls to action.
### 🔍 DARVO Analysis:
There was no identifiable DARVO behavior in the newsletter content; however, it calls for awareness within community leadership responses to contributor disengagement.
### 🔍 SEO Evaluation:
The newsletter exhibits strong SEO practices but could improve by optimizing meta descriptions and ensuring keyword-rich headings are utilized effectively.
## 🎯 Conclusion:
Loop WP's Issue #141 serves as a crucial touchpoint in recognizing the need for greater community engagement and contribution within the WordPress ecosystem. By celebrating our achievements while addressing emerging challenges, we can inspire renewed enthusiasm and collective action towards a more inclusive community.

#### Contributing to WordPress
My poll on X has now finished, and the results are as follows:
Last week, I set the context for the poll, [looked at the initial results](https://newsletter.loopwp.com/p/issue-140-loop-wp) and discussed some **potential implications** (while the poll was still open).
🤔 With **the overwhelming majority** of voters saying they’ve either stopped contributing or are considering it, **should this be a wake-up call** to Matt and the powers at Automattic?
#### Challenging myself to “Rise Up”
So, friend, remember [last week](https://newsletter.loopwp.com/p/issue-140-loop-wp) I tried to finish last week’s newsletter more positively?
As a reminder:
🏈 **I think it’s time to “Rise Up”,** a nearly [15-year-old slogan](https://www.atlantafalcons.com/video/rise-up-featuring-samuel-l-jackson-5021833?utm_source=newsletter.loopwp.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=issue-140-loop-wp) for my favourite American Football team that is a rallying cry for individuals, a team and a city to “rise up” together.
🎉 I want to continue that positivity this week, and **I'd like to share some of my favourite WordPress newsletters worth reading.**
(If I've missed your favourite WordPress newsletter, reply, and I'll include it next time.)
