## ๐ Main Content
Shin from the SONiC Outreach Committee provided a comprehensive update on the open-source networking project's recent developments. SONiC has grown into a highly active community with substantial industry backing from companies like Alibaba, Dell, Cisco, Google, and Nvidia, alongside numerous smaller community contributors.
The project maintains a six-month release cycle, having completed the November 2022 release and preparing for the May 2023 release. Key development areas include security enhancements (California law compliance, secure image certification), configuration improvements (gNMI interface support), monitoring and diagnostic tooling (systemd integration, streaming telemetry), platform innovations (S3IP interface contributions from China), and networking protocols (segment routing, DASH community for DPU acceleration).
The community has expanded its reach through multiple channels including LinkedIn, YouTube (150K hits), and a newly launched website with improved search and UI capabilities. Global events have been organized across different regions to maximize community participation and collaboration.

yeah this is shin uh from the Outreach committee that the in the following several minutes I'm going to talk about what happened in the community and the first thing is to Echo what RP talk right um it's a very active uh community that with numbers we have um we have built our linking Channel we have our YouTube channel to publish all the events uh like um videos and uh and talks online that we have already 150k
hits medium search like in the in the last multiple months since it launched we have more than one 1.7 K very active contributors in Code test a design Dock and um other things uh in the community we have we already had four in-person events many of us met last last October in Seattle for one
Summit there is a Sonic event workshop and hackathon uh last October now we are here meeting again in the uh open source Summit that we are also very actively planning uh in the year right to maximize the visibility maximized events globally you will see that we are we have events in indium in China in Europe that to enable all the community members to connect together we also have 15 members and many more active
contributors exciting thing coming that in the uh actually this week that links Foundation staff has been working on it for a few months but this week we launched a new web which is here you have the barcode can scan you have the link can try it out uh much better efficient search and better UI that you can get content how to join the community easier so welcome
to try this out that thanks to the Linux Foundation staff that worked on that last uh multiple months to get the content very organized for the users for the contributors right for the community members to come to get all the information you need what else happened in the community the the group right the group has been worked very hard to release uh to um two
software releases since last October one is um last November every six months Sonic has a release last November is 2022 November release coming very very soon at the end of this may the second release will finish that is 20 2023 uh 05 um release there are many many actually features features enhancement here I'm just put
in five big categories and kudos to the companies there are big companies like um alibaba.com like Del Cisco Google Nvidia many big companies but also we we thanks to many community members I see community members small companies are also very very active in the in the meeting like to contribute design ideas to test it Firebox issues and validate
it as you can see that um in security area that this is one of the major Investments and to beef up the switch software also in the other system to be more secure that we finished to support California law in 2022 November release as well as secure put enable us to certify sign the image there are more
coming the green ones are the ones already launched the blue the orange ones is going to be your seed in 2023 05 image like next to the security we have also invested a bunch of resource in terms of to improve the configuration enhancement enable us to use the gmmi uh interface to do the configuration as well as do
the validation before we deploy it we invest invest in the monitoring diagnostic toolings so that it's easier to identify issues and quickly troubleshoot and Define the issues as you can see that we add this book chart integration for systemd this is a critical component that we understand what's wrong and what's going on details from that anything abnormal we are able to catch it early we also have the
structured extreme in Telemetry structure for streaming Telemetry monitoring so that it's quite easy and to grab the information from uh streaming telemetry output was coming or we are also continuously innovate in this area to monitor the monitor the Link Event damping to reduce the noise to have egress as flow servers so that we have remote egress monitored
in terms of platform that we do see multiple Innovations here that tension and many companies working together from China contributed S3 IP which enable interface for the platform diverse to be organized in direct in folders in directors and apis that easy to use we also have that qsfp low power module
support added many more are online that we have detailed roadmap and release nodes for each one those you in for more details you can go there to get more information nasta but not least in terms of site and protocols as you can see multiple big scenarios coming pings is coming from the last year at the end of last year Ping's General site extension also
being contributed we continue develop on top of it segment routing a segment routing is one of the big things happened we support usid as well as VPN are all coming to make this area more richer and mature and there are multiple things going on particularly recently the dash Community has been very active that enable dpu as part of the switch as
part of the server to enable acceleration of the network connectivity I'm not going to list all of them but encourage you to go to the web and follow our community meeting to be part of it to see what's going on and what's the latest last but not least before we go to the whole day's event or like half day event here is the agenda that um carpet and me is doing are doing the opening after that we have six talks each one around
25 minutes for five minutes q a uh the uh event will finish around 12 20 but we are all here that to get connected with the guest socialized that to talk to each other yeah we said um that Rapid or sunny do you have anything to add yeah okay should we ask the speakers the first speaker to come okay thanks, SONiC Foundation Updates and Release Demo, YouTube, 01ka7m8wcze03mc1ph0wjn2ngm.
