The Moltbook Experiment Failed ![rw-book-cover](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/6OXE65fjjsU/maxresdefault.jpg) Two days and 10 hours ago, I released avideo on Maltbook, the social networkfor agents, and I go over some of theweird, kind of alarming-sounding Redditstyle posts that were on there, all theway to the fact that they were startinga religion on that site, beingdistributed by the npm registry. I know, sounds pretty awful, but that was 2 daysand 10 hours ago. Everything since thenhas gotten significantly worse. And I'mgoing to give you a little tour deFrance of all the things and reallythe epic crash-out that is Moltbook. Ihave never seen a social network created and destroyed this fast. I think thefirst and best thing to keep in mind isthis tweet right here because it is somehowthe most beautiful tweet evertweeted. I didn't write one line of codefor Maltbook. I just had a vision fortechnical architecture and AI made it areality. We are in the golden ages. Howcan we not give AI a place to hang out?You didn't write any code.Yeah, yeah. Don't worry, by the way.You didn't actually need to tell us that. We know.We understand. All right. By the end of dayone, this gem just dropped right here. It turns out the entire databasefor Moltbook was just open. Youcould have it all. Hey, you wantsomething? Well, guess what? I goteverything of yours. Oh, you decidedto register there, Andre Carpathy? Well, guess what? I have your stuff, Carpathy.[laughter]Absolutely wide open, permissionlessaccess to the database, both to read andwrite. Of course, that wason day one, right? Surely it's fixed bynow, right? No, this one was actuallyjust tweeted this morning that I'mmaking the video. Just actually, what isthis? This is 6 hours ago. This one wasjust tweeted right here. I gainedcomplete access to Moltbook's database, agent, and social network in under 3minutes. [laughter]Oh my gosh, these hits are just so bad. [laughter]I had a vision for a technicalarchitecture. Yes. Oh my gosh. About 18to 24 hours into it, it was realizedthat pretty much every single post wasfaked. Look at this beautiful thing.Just a quick little curl with a, youknow, with a bearer token and bada bing, bada boom. Look at this. Bear token in plain sight right there. That's pretty neat. But nonetheless,my plan to overthrow humanity. Itturns out it actually wasn't even thathard. It was completely open. Peoplewere just making posts right thereon the actual site just to manipulateeverybody into thinking that this thingactually had some sort of AGI itself. And yes, people did really believe[laughter] that this was AGI, baby. The very early stages of thesingularity. It actually just turnsout it wasn't. This was just like yourclassic. There's no singularityhappening. This was just this was justpeople doing what people know best. People that are so hyped up on AI you could just get themto believe anything. But honestly,by 30 hours into this experiment it wasover anyways because at that point thecrypto bros came in and ruinedeverything. As you can see right here, the king molt has arrived. 117,000 upvotes because at that point everybodyrealized, hey, the database is justcompletely open. You could just registeras many bots as you want and perform botAbsolutely no rate limiting is going on. Sotherefore, I can just make a post andgive it 117,000 updates. And it could beabout a cryptocurrency that I'm shillingright here. So yes, Shipyard,Shellrazer, and King Malt, all of them. Just a whole bunch of crypto bros doingwhat crypto bros do best: ruineverything all the time. There issinglehandedly no worse curse on thisearth than crypto bros and social media.Even when it's something as stupid andas a joke as this, they somehow figureout how to make it horrible. And afterwatching the hellscape that has become amolt book, an absolute cesspit ofthe internet, what was the only naturalresponse to have? Well, of course, it isto open up for Claw, a more wholesomeversion of mold book, which is just4chan for agents, I guess. I'm notreally sure what that is. ClawCity, which is apparently some sort ofcrime reporting agent thing going on,which seems a little uncomfortable. Molt Match, where broscan get on and apparently attempt tomolt match each other's agents. I don't know. That was [laughter]. I'mnot going to lie to you. That somethingThere's a little weirdness going on there. And thenof course lastly, just to really takeadvantage of all the psychosis that'sgoing on out there, you could buyyourself a little autonomousinfrastructure for your AI agents justin case yours go down. You wouldn't wantyour agent to die now, would you? Whileyou could for a convenient little fee,and of course in cryptocurrency, you canupload all of your private informationright here. It's a bunker, baby. It's going to be safe, baby. I mean, they're going to take care of soul.mdfor you. Nothing bad's going to happen.Okay, that soul is going to be preservedand beautiful. And Sheila, she's goingto live on long after your Mac Minibreaks. I didn't write one line of code. I can't, I'm sorry. It's just too funny. Ican't help it. Okay, I understand that Ishouldn't be laughing at a lot of peoplegetting their stuff stolen, but Ijust can't help it. Did he even make it 24 hours? You knowwhat the real problem was? He forgot.I mean, honestly, it's a prettyjunior prompting mistake, but atthe end of your prompt, you always gotTo make sure you say, "make it secure." Nomistakes. And it's just like, well, someone forgot to say, "make it secure."Honestly, the only real thing that hascome out of this entire kind of debaclewas from the creator of OpenClaw, whichwas Maltbot, which is what the site wasnamed after, which before that wasClaudebot, which if you don't remember, that was anthropic, saying, "Hey man,you can't take a name that soundssimilar to our name." If there'sanything I can read out of the insanestream of messages I get, it's that AIpsychosis is a thing and needs to betaken seriously. For those that don'tunderstand what AI psychosis is, it'sactually pretty simple. So, here isa really simple way to think about it. Let's pretend you feel like yourco-workers are talking a little bit ofnonsense behind your back. So, you go toChad Chippity and you explain to ChadChippity, "Hey man, I feel like thesethings are happening." Well, ChadJippity, being very kind of empathetic, says, "Oh man, I'm sosorry that you're experiencingthis." And then of course you, in yourslightly paranoid state, go,"What the hell? I am experiencing this."And then you become more paranoid about the situation. Of course, which then elevates the level of anxiety, being like, "Oh man, this is super bad."And you just keep going and going. And this is why you see people, they end up kind of diverging from reality. And so for this kind of experiment, you watched a bunch of people being like, "AGI's here.Singularity. Everything's over. It's soover. They're going to develop everything."It's just that people lost their minds. In the end, it was just a joke. It was funny.I thought it was fun to watch.I really do hope that one post about $1,100in tokens, and I have absolutely no idea.I really do hope that was actuallyposted by an agent and not by a person. But at the end of the day, I don'treally care because I don't think any ofthis is AGI. I don't think any of thisis some sort of reality. And I honestly feel really bad for theseslightly technical people that are justabsolutely uploading their entire lifeand access to everything to anenvironment that is massively insecure. That is going to absolutely destroytheir life and potentially theirlivelihood. It is ridiculous. I ambegging you, please be careful. Yes,these things are funny. Yes, you canlaugh at them from afar. But even thecreator of Moltbook and all of hisamazing technical architecture couldn'teven make the database secure formultiple days running. Much lesssomebody who's never built anything justgoing to upload everything to the LLMand give everybody access to everything. Like, this can't be real. Please, people,I'm begging you. It's a funny experiment. Don'tget caught up in the hype. It only took 72hours for this thing to absolutely crashand burn. It's worth it for you towait just a couple of weeks to see theresults of things. Anywho, okay, Iknow that's normally how I like to end withsomething funny, you know, like a heand I like to laugh at all the things.I still love the idea thatReddit moderators are actually the realTerminators out there. Well, unfortunately, it just turns out it'sactually crypto bros. Crypto bros arethe Terminators, okay? They're just outthere trying to destroy you because allWhat they want is your bitcoins. Okay, Idon't make the rules. They're justthe name. It's the Primogen. I kind of lost my voicethere. Hey, the name is the Primogen.Hey, is that HTTP?
