Turn Website Policies Into Recurring Revenue

Whether it's as simple as a contact form, an analytics integration, or embedding a YouTube video, just about every website on the internet today needs some kind of privacy policy solution. The fines for non-compliance are absolutely mind-blowing, and we're seeing a major uptick in the number of companies who are being targeted for not having the right kinds of policies on their website. Now, whether or not you'd be liable for that as an agency owner, if your client gets one of these demand letters, you're absolutely going to be the first person they reach out to. And none of us really want to deal with that headache. That's why for years now I've
been using Termageddon for all of my own websites, why I strongly suggest it to all my clients, and why I recommend it to everybody inside the admin bar. Now, I know this is starting to sound like an ad, and while I do have some partnerships with Termageddon, this video is not one of them. I actually reached out to Hans at Termageddon to see if he would help me with this video as a favor to me because I see so many of these conversations happening inside the adminar community and I just wish everybody else felt as confident about their solution as I do about mine. So in
this quick interview, Hans is going to explain how the Termageddon system works and better than that, how you can actually turn this into a recurring revenue stream for your agency while protecting your clients at the same time. So, Hans, we see all the privacy policy and terms of service links inside footers. We're bombarded by all the cookie banners. Is all that stuff actually even really that important? >> Uh, yes, they are. And I I know we want to hope that it's not the case like, oh, I I wish I didn't have to really think about this stuff, but the reality is we
do. Uh, anyone in the web world, we are building websites for clients that collect data like names and emails through contact forms, IP addresses through analytics tools. We need to be coming to terms with reality which is that we are helping our customers collect regulated data. We should not downplay this. We should inform them about their legal requirements of having a website and address it upfront because website owners are actively being targeted for privacy law non-compliance as we do this recording. And so it is a
big deal. But the good news is there's tools out there on how to get it addressed. >> Absolutely. And obviously termageddon is one of those tools which is why we're chatting today. So what is termageddon exactly? Like if you explained it in a nutshell. >> Yeah. So termageddon is an auto updating website policies and consent solution. So our that is to summarize it that is everything we do. We auto up we you generate policies with termageddon. We automatically update them over time via our embed codes which you copy and paste
into the body of your policy pages. We provide consent solutions that are tailored to the actual laws that apply to you. And why this matters is well, we don't want to be fined or sued because we're running a website. That's like the last thing we want to think about. Um, so let's put a solution in place that is not just a static one-time, oh, I just put on my site, I'm good to go forever. No, no, no. Termagan is a strategy to keep up to date with the ever changing privacy law landscape. Um, so it were $119 a year for a full set of policies and a consent solution.
And you mentioned a couple of those things like the auto updating and the making sure that you're checking for all the applicable laws. Is that a way you differentiate from other competitors on the market? Because I know there's other solutions out there for this kind of thing. >> Yeah, that that's one of our big differentiators. Uh we cover a little over 125 privacy related laws, rules, and regulations and consumer protection laws. Um which is I think 5x more than anyone else on the planet. I think that just speaks to having an actual privacy
attorney be one of the founders of this tech company. Um, you know, our foundation ha has and will always be to find out what disclosures you need to make and what type of consent tool you need on your website. You first need to find out what laws apply. Once you find out what laws apply, each law tells you what you need to say in those policies. So, our tool starts by finding out what laws apply and only from there do we ask the questions necessary to make the respective disclosures under those laws. So, that's the big differentiator. One of the big ones uh for us is being privacy attorney founded u for one, but
also find out the laws that apply because that will literally dictate everything else and uh that's exactly where our tool starts you off with when going through our questionnaire. >> So we obviously uh are connected through the fact that I run a community for agencies and I know Termagdon does a lot of stuff that's specific for web agencies. So, can you tell me why a web agency or a freelancer, somebody that's selling website services to a client would pick Termagdon over some of the other solutions? >> Yeah, so earlier I I mentioned how my wife's the privacy attorney, the real
brains of the operation. Um, and you know, that's the right foundation to getting everything properly set up that's comprehensive. My background is I ran a 10person agency uh prior to selling it and going full-time termageddon. And so, I built Termageddon to tailor two agencies and their clients. Like I that's so it's it's our DNA. That is how we built our program. I wanted agencies to first off get a free license for their own website. Like join as a partner, take the time to learn our tool, get something free while you're at
it. Um so you can see do I like this? Could I see myself recommending this to my clients? And if you do like what you see, you can recommend our solution with our affiliate or reseller programs. So you can make a little recurring revenue while you help your clients get protected. And our entire dashboard is built to be agency clients uh friendly. You know, right when you log in as a partner, you'll see all your licenses in one dashboard view. You can drill down into individual clients, issue individual license access to each of your clients. The list goes on and on. But high level, our DNA is working with
agency partners. That's how we built this company. >> That's great. And and you mentioned the dashboard there. So setting up policies. I don't know anything about the legal mumbo jumbo that goes into that. So, what what's all involved in getting a policy set up? How does all that work? >> Yeah. To get proper policies set up, you need to find out what laws apply to you. And um that's ground level one, like find out what laws apply because that will dictate everything else. It'll determine if you need uh a privacy policy to make privacy law disclosures.
Um privacy policy needed for virtually any website in this day and age. If you're collecting names and emails through contact forms, you likely need a privacy policy. um terms of service, otherwise known as terms of use. These are the this type of policy is just a laundry list of reasons why website visitors can't sue you. Um so when you go through our questionnaire, we basically help you determine what laws apply and then as our questionnaire adapts, um we'll ask you additional questions to make sure we get all the disclosures in there that you specifically are required to make.
>> So all those questions are basically conditional. So if we answer one way, you give us the next set of questions if we answer differently. That's how it's kind of tailored. >> That's exactly right. Um I can't tell you how many times uh people come to us saying, "Oh, I I need CCPA disclosures, which is a California privacy law." And that law only applies to for-profit entities that make 25 million a year in revenue or or surpass some other thresholds. For the sake of this interview, I'm not going to go into the details. CCPA, which is actually called CPA. Now, for the record, that only
applies to larger businesses, broadstrokes purposes. And so when I see a plumber coming to me or a nonprofit coming to me, I need CCPA, I I just we have to peel that layer back and be like, "No, you need to make the disclosures you're required to make because California has some nasty other privacy laws that are likely much more uh of importance that you get addressed rather than a law that wouldn't apply to you in the first place." And that's a really big distinction between Termagdan and other uh providers is we have one price, $119 a year, whether you need to comply with one law or 100. And and and
and I like it being that simple because I don't want to nickel and dime people for, oh, you want this new law? Oh, that's going to cost you an extra 20 bucks a year. Like, none of that. Like, it's it's annoying enough that I have to go through the policy generation process. I don't want to be nickeled and dimed along the way. >> But you mentioned uh for agencies that there's a reseller option. There's also an affiliate option. Can you tell us a little bit about how that works as far as from the agency perspective? >> Yeah, so um you you join as an agency partner. That means you have have access to both the reseller and affiliate
programs. Meaning you can resell licenses to some clients. What is reselling? Instead of $119 a year, you can buy from us at $42.24 per year. You can actually even get it less if you you buy you can buy right out the gate one at a time at wholesale rates. Um but if you want to like buy a bulk deal, you can even bring that rate down lower. But worst case, you're buying it from us at $42.24 24 cents a year and then reselling them to your clients at the full 119 a year. So that way you can make a recurring revenue
stream while helping your clients get protected. Um the affiliate program is where your client pays term again directly and then we pay you recurring commission for the lifetime of all sales. That is currently 20% recurring commissions. Um it can go higher if you find our Easter egg in our website. Uh but I'll I have to leave it as that as being the clue. Um but 20% recurring commissions and um it's for the lifetime of all referrals and it's our thank you to you know recommending us. Um and there's pros and cons to both the
reseller and affiliate program. Happy to give highle overviews if you'd like me to. >> Yeah, I know there's been confusion over that over should I do the resell or should I do the affiliate. It sounds like the resale probably gets you a little bit more profit. So that would probably go in the pros column there. But give us a little uh reasons why people might pick one or the other. >> Yeah. and you nailed the pro to the reseller program is that um you can make more recurring profit uh with the reseller program, but the con is that it's a lot more hands-on work. You have to make sure you share the license with the client, make sure that they've
reviewed their their questionnaire. I I would say the reseller program works really well for agencies that have like very strict SOPs that they follow or maybe they're very niche focused where they know the typical license is going to have kind of the same foundation again and again. And with the reseller program, you can duplicate previously built licenses so you can like expedite setups. Um, so reseller program really beneficial if you have kind of your operations down. It's like boom boom boom and and you want to invest that upfront time to really learning how best to resell um our product. Um, the
affiliate program is much more for like, you know, I want to focus on web design. I don't really want to do privacy policy stuff. I'm just going to recommend clients go directly to you. Um, and that that means the client comes to us, pays us directly, they go through the questionnaire, and then share the license with your partner account when they're done. So, you can get the codes to add to their site. It's way more hands-off uh for the agency. And we even have a complimentary onboarding program that isn't even visible publicly. It's only visible to our agency partners. Um, where you can actually connect us
directly with your client. We'll book a call with them. We'll walk them through everything. Um, and what's great is, you know, you the partner, you just educate clients about their legal requirements. offer term again as a potential solution. Clients get connected with us, we walk them through everything and then we pay you. Um, so yeah, if you go the affiliate program with term again, there will never be a moment in time you ever pay us. In fact, we will be the ones paying you for the lifetime of your referrals. Um, so the con to the affiliate program though is the commissions. It's like 20% commission. Um, so you don't make as much money. Uh,
no one's going to be retiring with Termagdon. Uh, but making a little money coming in every year, you know, that stuff adds up over time. So >> yeah. And you said you don't have to pick one or the other. You could do both simultaneously. >> Yeah. If you want to resell to some of your clients and then do the affiliate program for others, uh, by all means. My favorite is when agencies are like, "I'm going to take the fun clients, the ones I like, and I'm going to send you all the ones I don't like." And I'm like, honestly, I do the same. So, so yeah, by all means, resell to some, do the affiliate for others. What matters is you apply to be a partner and you're
approved. you know, when you apply, provide a real website, provide a professional email, you'll get approved. Um, and and then from there, you have that access to be able to do both programs. >> Perfect. I'll make sure everybody has the links to all that wherever you're finding this video. And Hans, I really appreciate you taking a little bit of time to explain how everything works to us today. >> Thanks so much, Kyle. >> If you're interested in learning more, then go over to termageddon.com/tab where you can sign up for free to become an agency partner. that will actually
unlock two free licenses for you instead of one. But more importantly, it gives you access to all the agency specific tools has developed. These will help you inform, educate, and sell policies to your clients. My two favorite of those are the website policies waiver, which I include in all of my contracts and the pre-written email sequences. Like I said before, I gain nothing from sharing this video or for you clicking my link. I just really believe in Termagdon and I wish everybody felt as confident about their solution as I do. Now, I know this video was a little bit different than
what I normally do, but if you have any questions, let me know down in the comments below., Turn Website Policies Into Recurring Revenue, YouTube, 01kjasc3xt1d7f0x1dtsxmwn6m.
