Female pastors always preach heresy. >> All right, let's see it. >> This is something I constantly see online where they will always sprinkle in a little bit of heresy on top of their sermons. >> Well, I hope you'll be providing examples of some of this heresy. >> Why is this so common? Well, because in order to be a female pastor, you must ignore scripture. And ignoring scripture leads to heresy. >> Well, to be any kind of pastor, you must ignore scripture because scripture is not univocal, but is
inherently inconsistent and self-contradictory. And so, anytime you try to preach any given message, you're doing so over and against some other part of scripture that conflicts with that. And you may have rationalizations for why certain scripture can be ignored, but the same is true of any female pastor who is ignoring a part of scripture. It's inherent to the whole project. You can't do it without ignoring scripture. And so, to whine
about female pastors is to ignore scripture because there's not actually any passage of the Bible that says women can't be pastors. In fact, the office of pastor is mentioned only once in passing in the entire Bible, and there are no qualifications that are assigned to it. And Paul in a genuine Pauline letter identifies a woman as an apostle. If a woman can be an apostle, a woman can be a pastor. So, you don't
really have any passage that says women can't be pastors. What you have are some pseudepigraphic passages that say women can't have authority over men and women cannot open their mouths during church services. Uh both of which are contradicted by actual authentic Pauline passages because these are one, an interpolation in the 1 Corinthians 14 that directly contradicts 1 Corinthians 11. And two, passage from the Pastoral Epistles,
which weren't written by Paul. So, women who are pastors might be ignoring the parts of scripture that are lies, that are pseudepigraphic, that are somebody who's not Paul pretending to be Paul, but at least they're actually listening to what the authentic Paul has to say. You, on the other hand, prioritize the lies, and then ignore what the authentic Paul had to say in order to structure power
in a deeply misogynistic and stupid way. >> In order to be a female pastor, you have to read 1 Timothy 2:12 through 13 and think, "Ah, I don't care." And then you go on about your merry way being a female pastor. >> Wow, imagine that. You did precisely what I said you have absolutely no other option but to do. So, really all this comes down to is that women who are pastors choose to ignore scripture in a way that's different from the way you choose to ignore scripture.
So, you're all ignoring scripture. You're just saying, "Well, you're not allowed to do it that way. You're just whining." Because you're trying to structure power and values and boundaries and identities and ways to take access to power and resources away from women. Like I said, deeply misogynistic and stupid. >> In the same way, if you do that with other forms of scripture, you get heresy. That's why all female pastors end up preaching heresy.
>> Heresy just means an idea I don't like. So, what heresy do you preach now that we've established that you ignore scripture? You ignore scripture that actually came from Paul and asserts scripture that came from someone who was lying about being Paul decades after Paul's death. I wonder what kind of heresy comes from misogyny and from prioritizing pseudepigrapha over and against authentic Pauline writings.
I'm sure it's pretty bad. >> Now, does this say that a woman cannot be a good teacher? Absolutely not. There are many, many good female teachers within the church. The difference is they're not pastors. There are great female theologians, but they're not pastors. Why? Because in order to be a good theologian, you must follow scripture. And in order to follow scripture, you cannot be a female pastor. >> You know what else that passage doesn't say? Anything at all about pastors.
But again, that word only occurs once in all the New Testament in Ephesians 4, which also probably wasn't written by Paul. All you're doing is appealing to a pseudepigraphic text written by somebody who's pretending to be Paul decades after Paul's death. And you're trying to leverage that to facilitate your ignoring of or overruling of Romans 16, at least, where Paul explicitly acknowledges and praises a woman who was an apostle. And once again, if a woman can be an apostle, a woman can sure as hell be a
pastor. So, you have to ignore parts of scripture in order to facilitate your misogynistic interpretation of other parts of scripture. You haven't identified any heresy yet. You're just whining about women being pastors because you believe that that's how you're going to increase your own access to power and authority. Whining about women being pastors so other people will be like,
"Oh, look at that one. They're willing to tow the line. They must be one of the good ones." It's a credibility enhancing display. But using misogyny as a credibility enhancing display is pretty pathetic. Grow the hell up.
