So why not have a September or October rollout for WordCamp US?Well, we don't have a say in it anymore, I guess, right? And it was September last year.I mean, I do understand, and I don'tdisagree with Matt Mullenweg when hesaid that it was for budgetary issues.Because I mean, October through May, Iwill fight anybody that says youcan't complain about the weather inPhoenix. October through May in Phoenixis beautiful.
Even if you do get warm, the mornings and the evenings areabsolutely gorgeous. They just are.And if you get warm, it's a few days outof that eight-month time frame. So, to that point,it becomes conference central.
Once October hits, I swear to God, you'll just see lanyards everywhere.Everywhere. All over downtown. Yes, allover. So, yes. So, then everything is just, you know, xxx more, you know?Yeah. And so, I'm sure that they are—Don't get me wrong, likewe're a conference in August goingto be dirt cheap. It is going to be dirtcheap here.
Here. Yes. Would you like to do aconference on Mars? Uh, how much? 50bucks. 50 bucks a square foot. No, 50bucks. Just 50 bucks. We'll throw a flagon Mars for you. You can bringyour own ice cream.Uh, but it's worth mentioning theimportance of accommodating the community's needs. The majority of this community has childrenand going back to school is a big deal. And let's say your kids are going, like it'smove-in week at the university, whichwill be move-in week at Arizona State. There is a downtown campus andparents want to be there for that. That's a big deal, and I reallythink October and November are really goodmonths to avoid that, because it's before thecraziness. But also there’s likethat whole joke about October beingthe calm before thestorm of the holidays, you know? So, I'mwith you there.
Do we haveI'm going to aggravate a lot ofPeople, but this is just like my side.
Listen, I’m Raquel.I hate traveling.I know you said that.I hate travelingmultiple times.Everything, you know, this is just asidebar to what I’m about to say, butlike going from the East Coast to the WestCoast for two or three days, I can't mentally do it.I’m outside of Boston. If it's on amap, I’m an hour away from Boston. Withtraffic, it’s three hours. If there’straffic, especially if there’s anaccident, forget it. You are prayingthat you can get to Logan Airport, parkyour car, and get to your terminalthrough the security line in like three tofour hours. It’s stupid, right? It isstupid. Just tack on four hours toeverything I do. If I have to leaveLogan Airport, Providence Airport, youcan just walk into that one and it’seasier. Um, and I hate flying to the WestCoast. Seven hours for two days, 14-hourtravel days. It’s seven hours. Let’s map it from Logan to Phoenix. It’s a sevenhour flight.
Flight time.Something like that.Oh, maybe it's because you're goingagainst the jet stream. It's okay. Yeah.Okay, so that's just the sidebarto that is I hate going to the west coast. Forthe love of God, why can't we pickChicago in the middle? Let's justChicago is a beautiful city. Chicago isa beautiful city in September andOctober.I was convinced it was going to beChicago.
I mean, my God, it's just centrallylocated. We're looking at the issuesthat everyone said about Portland.Portland was a nightmare to get to, uh,for me, anyway. And I just got toreset and put it in the middle of thecountry so it's just easier for all sidesto just get to. Anyway, this sidebar,am I are you going where I think you'regoing with this? No. Oh, maybe. Do we have too manycapstone WordCamps? Asia, Europe, US.Do we need them all?Because when I look at it, I see likea portion of the same people going toall of them, which whatever. That'sfine. But then I just feel like, okay,We're just doing three of these thingsevery year across the globe. Likethey're not really., WordCamp US When and Where?, WP Minute Podcasts, 01k4cwxbg3nwbvhgrm2t922br3.
