## ๐ Main Content
Tristan built "Airo Tycoon," a fully functional business simulation game using Airo Builder, demonstrating the platform's capabilities beyond traditional website creation. The game allows players to select any type of small business (like a sushi bar), manage inventory, set prices, run marketing campaigns, and purchase upgrades while dealing with random events that affect their business performance.
The development process involved extensive iteration - 80 total prompts over multiple sessions to refine gameplay mechanics, add features like achievements and leaderboards, improve mobile layout, and optimize for SEO. The game captures the addictive "dopamine hit" of classic tycoon games where players build successful businesses and reinvest profits for growth.
Key features include dynamic business theming (emojis and content adapt to chosen business type), real-time gameplay with daily sales cycles, reputation and demand systems, marketing options (Yelp reviews, Instagram ads), upgrade systems (like Wasabi stations for sushi bars), and random events that provide boosts or challenges.

[00:00] So, I've heard that you built something
[00:01] really cool with ArrowBuilder, and I'm
[00:03] really really excited to see it. Yeah.
[00:05] So, why don't you walk me through your
[00:07] through what you built, how did you come
[00:10] up with the idea?
[00:11] >> Yeah, certainly. So, I've uh I I've been
[00:14] using Arrow Builder for a while. I've
[00:16] tried it with a few different test sites
[00:18] and experiment sites, mostly like
[00:20] websites and and simple like small
[00:21] business projects, but I wanted to see
[00:23] if it could do more. So, one thing I've
[00:26] been thinking about in my role is how we
[00:28] can create some kind of viral effects or
[00:32] create something that gets users really
[00:34] interested and engaged and do something
[00:36] that's a little more fun. And I had this
[00:37] idea, you know, when I was a kid, I
[00:39] really loved uh these tycoon games on
[00:42] the computer. They were some of the
[00:43] first games that I played. Uh, I
[00:45] remember playing like Dino Park Tycoon,
[00:47] which is actually where you run like a
[00:49] dinosaur zoo or roller coaster tycoon
[00:51] where you kind of start a business,
[00:53] start a theme park and you can uh, you
[00:55] know, you you like set your prices,
[00:57] customers come and pay you, you have
[01:00] inventory and then you can take that
[01:02] money and invest it in like building a
[01:04] new ride in your theme park or building
[01:05] a food stall in your theme park. And,
[01:08] you know, you can adjust your prices and
[01:09] your customers get angry and events come
[01:11] like a tornado rolls through and blows
[01:13] up half your park. And I always really
[01:14] loved playing these tycoon games because
[01:17] it was always really fun to me to kind
[01:19] of, you know, model what a small
[01:21] business does uh in their day-to-day.
[01:23] So, you know, making decisions about
[01:25] where to like where and how to best
[01:27] build revenue, how to invest that to
[01:28] grow the business. And then that feeling
[01:30] that kind of clicks and turns over when
[01:32] your business is really successful and
[01:33] the cash just starts flowing in and
[01:36] you're able to make a lot of investments
[01:37] and it really feels successful. And um I
[01:39] always really loved that as a kid. I
[01:41] loved getting to that state and then I
[01:42] loved, you know, when I got to that
[01:44] state, restarting uh and and starting a
[01:46] new park from scratch. So, I was really
[01:48] inspired by that and I I thought that
[01:50] that would be a really good fit for, you
[01:52] know, how can we model uh how can we put
[01:55] this in the context of a small business
[01:56] and take this same idea and that same
[01:58] kind of dopamine hit that you get from
[02:00] building a business that way and turn it
[02:02] into a fun game that that we could play.
[02:05] And at first I wasn't sure if App
[02:06] Builder was able to do it, but I
[02:08] actually had really like surprisingly
[02:10] great results.
[02:10] >> So I had no idea, Tristan, that we can
[02:13] build something like this with Arrow
[02:15] Builder. So why don't you take me
[02:16] through like what was like the first
[02:18] prompt that you put in?
[02:20] >> Yeah, let me uh let me just start I'll
[02:22] take you directly to my um builder here,
[02:25] my arrow builder window where I'm
[02:27] actually working where I've been working
[02:28] on this live. And you can see my first
[02:31] prompt. Now you see it's a pretty big in
[02:33] big prompt and a pretty involved prompt.
[02:35] What I actually did in this case was I
[02:38] started just a separate session in uh in
[02:41] just an LLM and just started chatting
[02:43] about my goal and saying help me create
[02:47] this prompt in the best way for uh for a
[02:50] vibe coding tool, right? Um and so what
[02:53] I did was I just kind of described
[02:54] generally what I liked. I said I really
[02:56] liked these tycoon games. I want to
[02:58] build a game that has similar dynamics
[02:59] and I want the user to be able to select
[03:01] or customize uh their small business or
[03:04] their type of small business and have it
[03:06] kind of theme the game around that.
[03:08] >> So uh it said it basically said the role
[03:12] the goal build a self-contained
[03:13] interactive small business tycoon game.
[03:15] Uh it have a twist so the game engine
[03:17] must be generic but the skin is dynamic.
[03:20] And this is really important. It had um
[03:22] oh and then it had the aesthetic. So, it
[03:24] kind of matched this like early '9s uh
[03:27] Mac or like early Windows theme with
[03:30] with Windows, which I thought was really
[03:31] great that it kind of did that and
[03:32] identified that out of the gate. Uh, and
[03:35] so this is actually where it it kind of
[03:38] put in some really important
[03:40] fundamentals behind the game. So, it
[03:42] talked about the layout, how it should
[03:44] work, and then the core gameplay
[03:45] mechanics. this was really important
[03:47] because it kind of got this core
[03:48] gameplay mechanic right and then I was
[03:51] able to come back and kind of tweak it
[03:52] and adapt it from there and that say you
[03:54] know like this made the game a little
[03:55] too easy, this made the game a little
[03:56] too hard, let's add in some more
[03:58] complexity or let's add in a bit more to
[04:00] to how it works. Um, but this core like
[04:04] gameplay mechanics was really really
[04:06] fundamental. Getting this right the
[04:07] first time is kind of the foundation
[04:09] around which I built everything else for
[04:11] this game.
[04:12] >> Wow. And how many prompts did it take
[04:14] you to be like satisfied with it?
[04:17] >> Uh it it was quite a few. I actually
[04:20] yesterday I was trying to get a a
[04:22] quantified number and kind of like a
[04:24] almost like a release notes for what I'd
[04:26] done. Uh and I was actually just able to
[04:28] ask Arrower I said like how you know
[04:31] >> look back on our history and obviously
[04:33] because it's it's an AI it can't
[04:34] necessarily like look back at the
[04:36] history and it it you know it doesn't
[04:39] work that way. It doesn't have all the
[04:40] history, but I was able to say, look at
[04:42] the build history for this. And you can
[04:44] actually see every iteration of the
[04:46] build that I made here in the build
[04:47] history. And so I instructed it to Oh, I
[04:50] just lost the anchor where I was. So I
[04:52] instructed it to look back at the build
[04:54] history and say uh give me like a a
[04:58] basically a release notes of what I've
[04:59] done. And so you can see it had stay
[05:04] here. Let me skip this. Okay. So it I
[05:06] was able to instruct it to go back
[05:08] through the build history and give me
[05:09] kind of a release history. And so it
[05:11] said I've had 80 total bits and you can
[05:13] kind of see chronologically how I moved
[05:15] through this. So initial setup in core
[05:17] game. Uh I did some customizations on
[05:19] the business selection on this kind of
[05:21] first page that you see. I made some
[05:23] changes with the core gameplay like I
[05:24] added a leaderboard and achievement
[05:26] system with toast notifications. Uh I
[05:29] did some UIX improvements. Made some
[05:31] changes to how like the inventory works.
[05:33] Uh branding and theme. So I added the
[05:35] purple theme to match the arrow branding
[05:37] here. Uh more advanced features, some
[05:40] polish and refinement. Uh and then just
[05:42] today or just yesterday, I did some uh
[05:45] improvement on mobile layout and on the
[05:47] leaderboard. So actually generates a a
[05:50] database that will store all the high
[05:52] scores uh across different user
[05:54] sessions. So about 80 total.
[05:57] >> Wow. Like 80 total prompts. Sorry.
[06:00] >> Yeah.
[06:01] >> Got it. I mean, I also saw that you
[06:03] asked it uh to do like some SEO
[06:06] optimization for you.
[06:07] >> Yeah, I did. Let me let me jump back up
[06:09] to that. So, one thing I've noticed with
[06:11] with these is that um you know, it it
[06:14] doesn't by default necessarily write all
[06:16] the SEO stuff like meta title and metad
[06:19] description until you get it uh up to
[06:21] date.
[06:22] >> So, all I said was just now update site
[06:24] title, description, and social SEO stuff
[06:26] with the brand for Aerero Tycoon. I
[06:29] didn't want it to change any of the
[06:30] content. It will actually change like on
[06:31] page content if you want it to like you
[06:34] know if you want to have content for
[06:36] certain keywords or things like that and
[06:37] I've seen a lot of success doing that
[06:39] for like a website like if there's a
[06:41] website that you want to be found on the
[06:42] internet it'll actually go and update
[06:44] your content. You can ask it for for GEO
[06:47] as well. So it'll put content in like
[06:49] question answer format or it'll add like
[06:52] schema.org markup to the site which is
[06:54] something that helps it show up in in
[06:57] GEO or for for LLMs. So, it's actually
[06:59] really powerful. For this one, I just
[07:01] asked for a couple simple updates
[07:03] because I didn't want it to change too
[07:04] much of the site content in this case.
[07:06] So, it updated the meta tag. So, like
[07:08] when I, you know, when I open it, you
[07:09] can see up here in my browser, it has
[07:11] the the um meta title there in the
[07:14] browser. Uh the open graph stuff. So, if
[07:17] this is shared on Facebook or LinkedIn,
[07:19] LinkedIn, when it has a preview URL, it
[07:20] will have the full title and the game
[07:22] description there, Twitter card, um and
[07:25] then keyword tags as well. So,
[07:28] >> I'm impressed. Like, that's the only
[07:30] thing that I can say. This is amazing.
[07:33] Um, I'm gonna be honest with you.
[07:35] Growing up, I used to play Diner Dash,
[07:38] not Tycoon. So, I'm quite interested to
[07:41] see how the game
[07:43] >> works.
[07:43] >> Yeah, let's jump in. I'm going to uh I'm
[07:47] going to start here. And what what kind
[07:48] of business should we start? So, there's
[07:50] some suggested starts here or some
[07:52] suggested business types. There's a full
[07:53] drop down here, so we can really do just
[07:56] about any type of small business we want
[07:58] to start.
[07:58] >> Wow. If I do Yelp reviews for $30,
[09:25] I get higher demand and higher rep
[09:28] score, reputation score. So, I just
[09:30] boosted those.
[09:31] >> And so, you can let's do let's really
[09:33] juice the demand and get it up there.
[09:34] So, Instagram ads 15%. I've got high demand and high
[09:51] reputation, so I think I should be able
[09:52] to do that. And then let's get our first
[09:55] upgrade. So, I want to get a Wasabi
[09:57] station. So, that will give me a 30%
[09:59] sales boost. So, I bought that with my
[10:01] 300 bucks. Now, it's showing I own the
[10:04] Wasabi station, and that should help
[10:06] accelerate how many sales I'm getting
[10:08] each day. Keep my stock up. Yeah. So,
[10:10] you can see I'm selling a couple per
[10:12] day. Oh, my reputation is dropping.
[10:14] Let's boost that. Let's do a happy hour
[10:16] deal. Sweet. This is like
[10:24] really really interesting. Love the way
[10:27] that you used Arrow Builder. It's very
[10:29] different than the normal use cases that
[10:32] we see like building a site or just to
[10:34] like a web app or something so simple. I
[10:37] feel like this really shows how you can
[10:40] take it a lot further just by like
[10:42] prompting better or just like having new
[10:46] creative Ideas.
