To see
[00:08] why it's trusted by 125,000 businesses,
[00:11] visit omnisend.com [music] today.
[00:15] Today, I'm going to show you how you can
[00:17] add the most beautiful, buttery smooth
[00:19] page navigation to your sites in just a
[00:21] few clicks that looks just like this.
[00:24] See how when I hover over those
[00:25] horizontal lines on the left, [music] it
[00:27] shows me the section headings of the
[00:30] page itself and when I click on them, it
[00:32] smooth scrolls me down [music] to that
[00:34] exact point. Stay tuned because at the
[00:36] end of the video, I'll be giving you a
[00:37] link where you can download the plug-in
[00:38] completely for free. But first, here's
[00:41] the incredible story of how it was
[00:43] built. A few weeks ago, I was browsing
[00:45] the internet and I saw this beautiful
[00:47] navigation on a website called Stripe
[00:49] Press, which is a WordPress website, and
[00:51] I thought, "Oh, that would look lovely
[00:52] on my site." So, I quickly fired up
[00:53] WordPress Studio and Cursor and I built
[00:55] a WordPress plug-in in about 15 minutes
[00:58] and then posted the results on LinkedIn
[01:00] and I wrote, "Saw this gorgeous post
[01:02] navigation design earlier today.
[01:04] Couldn't resist trying it out. 15
[01:05] minutes with WordPress studio and cursor
[01:07] later working prototype done. Wild how
[01:10] quick things are now." Flame emoji. The
[01:12] LinkedIn post got a great reaction with
[01:14] lots of people liking it and sharing it.
[01:16] But then Andre Drainescu, one of the
[01:18] lead developers behind TX AI, which is
[01:21] Automatic's blockb building AI tool,
[01:24] chirped in and said, "15 minutes. Here
[01:27] is 5 minutes with TX." Smiley face.
[01:30] Disclaimer, that voice was not AI
[01:32] generated. Was me. Anyway, back to the
[01:35] story. One of the beautiful things about
[01:37] TX and one of the most interesting
[01:38] things about TX is it has a remix
[01:41] button. It means you can take what
[01:42] somebody else has built and turn it into
[01:44] your own. So that's exactly what I did.
[01:46] I took what Andre had built and created
[01:48] my own version with a few little changes
[01:51] and then I posted it on X. Mind blown.
[01:54] Andre Dragoncu, one of the lead
[01:56] developers of TX5 Vive coded this
[01:58] elegant smooth scrolling in page
[01:59] navigation in just 5 minutes. If you
[02:02] want it for your own sites, drop a like
[02:03] and a comment yes, please, and I'll
[02:05] share it. Not sure why I did the voice
[02:07] there, cuz that was actually me. Anyway,
[02:09] a few minutes later, Amber Hines, who's
[02:11] an accessibility expert, remixed my
[02:13] project and found a lot of issues. That
[02:17] block is wholly made out of divs and
[02:19] spans. It's completely non-functional
[02:20] for keyboard users. It also disappears
[02:22] on Zoom, low vision users, and for
[02:25] mobile users. Here's an example of one
[02:26] item. Correct semantics. You get the
[02:29] idea. Amber found a whole ton of issues.
[02:32] But then a few minutes later, her
[02:33] colleague Steve chirped up with this.
[02:36] Something like this. The thing about
[02:37] vibe coding is you can't always rely on
[02:39] the AI to do all the thinking and make
[02:41] the correct consideration like
[02:43] accessibility in this case. It's best
[02:45] suited to handle the execution. This
[02:47] took way more than 5 minutes. So I came
[02:50] up with the original idea. Andre put it
[02:52] through TX. Amber identified problems
[02:54] and Steve remixed it and improved it.
[02:56] And this is why I think TX is so
[02:58] profound. It lets you take what others
[02:59] have done and remix it and customize it
[03:02] to exactly what you want.
[03:05] Adding the navigation block to your
[03:07] pages couldn't be simpler. It picks up
[03:08] on your headings. You see, I've just got
[03:10] a page here with some sections and each
[03:12] one has a heading. If I click on the
[03:14] list view, you can see that each one of
[03:15] these is a heading. That's what the nav
[03:17] block is looking for. So, let's just add
[03:19] it into the page and I'm going to search
[03:20] for inpage navigation. Again, I will
[03:22] give you the link where you can download
[03:23] this completely for free at the end of
[03:25] the video. Just add that block and save
[03:27] it. And now, when I go and view that
[03:29] page, you will see this beautiful menu
[03:31] on the left. And then if I click on
[03:33] these, they smooth scroll down to those
[03:35] places. It really couldn't be any
[03:37] simpler. There's a whole bunch of really
[03:39] nice settings that let you customize the
[03:41] design of the inpage navigation menu.
[03:43] You can see them over on the right. Just
[03:45] make sure you've got the inpage
[03:46] navigation block selected. You can see
[03:48] we can change the default line color,
[03:49] the hover line color, the line
[03:51] thickness, the hover color thickness,
[03:53] the line length, the line length on
[03:55] hover, and also the text settings. But
[03:58] the story didn't quite finish there. One
[04:00] of the things I really wanted to do was
[04:02] add this to my post automatically. So I
[04:04] thought, could I add it into my blog
[04:06] theme template? So I made a few changes
[04:08] in TX and voila, this is how you do it.
[04:11] So if you want to add this to all your
[04:13] posts automatically without having to
[04:15] put it into each post, then you can put
[04:17] it in the post template. So go to
[04:20] appearance in your dashboard. Then click
[04:22] on editor here. On the next screen,
[04:24] you're going to click on templates. This
[04:26] option just here. What you need to do
[04:28] here is find the single post template
[04:30] here. And we're just going to pop it
[04:31] into the single post template a bit like
[04:33] we did before. So, I'm going to hit
[04:34] return and then start typing it in page
[04:36] navigation. Hit return. And now that's
[04:39] in the template. Now, we won't see
[04:41] anything until we actually go and see
[04:42] one of our post. So, make sure you save
[04:44] the template. Go back to your dashboard
[04:46] by clicking on the WordPress logo. Go to
[04:48] any of your posts. Now, as long as they
[04:50] have headings in, this should work.
[04:52] Here's one I've got. And there we go.
[04:54] that's been automatically added by the
[04:56] fact that we've added the block into the
[04:58] template, but that will happen on every
[05:00] single post now. So, it's a way of
[05:02] adding it into all your posts with just
[05:04] a few clicks. If you want to get hold of
[05:06] the plug-in and use it on your own
[05:07] sites, and why wouldn't you? Here's a
[05:09] link so you can download it completely
[05:11] for free,
[05:13] feel free to freeze the video at this
[05:15] point.
[05:20] So, thank you so much for watching. I
[05:21] hope you found that useful and it
[05:22] improves your website. If you did, if
[05:24] you can hit the like button, it would be
[05:25] amazing because it does make a huge,
[05:26] huge, huge difference in terms of how
[05:28] many people get to see this video. It
[05:30] really, really does. So, thank you if
[05:31] you can hit that like button now. And
[05:33] also, every time you do hit that like
[05:34] button, our cats get a little treat.
[05:45] >> [music]
[05:50] >> If you want to see more videos like
[05:51] this, hit that subscribe button and
[05:53] you'll be notified every time I release
[05:54] a new one. Thanks again for watching.
[05:55] Keep well and I'll see you soon. Bye for
[05:57] now.
