- What a mess...
Seen on WordPress slack— how do I remove my plugin? I can't maintain or support it due to the new checkbox.
Log in to your .org account and there's an option
I can't log in because of the checkbox
Oh, well you can email then
This is all so unnecessary 🤦🏻♂️ https://t.co/AzOB6XAE5X

- I'm sorry... what?
———
The message – penned by Automattic’s then-chief legal officer Paul Simineski in January 2024 on the company’s “P2” (a version of WordPress aimed at internal communications) – outlined a plan for how Automattic would approach this strategy, through direct negotiations with companies and via legal action from “nice and not nice lawyers and trademark enforcers.” And Automattic potentially would register further trademarks going forward.
“We will be using a multi-pronged strategy that will involve some additional trademark registrations… legal cease-and-desist letters, and a formal paid licensing program for the partners,” Simineski noted. (He left the company in April 2024.) ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/ryancduff/status/1846258910115824125))
- Interesting human/animal dynamic playing out with the WordPress drama.
I'm watching as multiple people just kowtow to Matt because they see him as alpha, which is what allows abuse to continue.
But take grizzly bears... they don't care. They'll see an alpha and still challenge him to a fight to knock him off his throne. They might lose, but at least they fought.
Not so much fighting in the WordPress community. Just a lot of whitewashing of what Matt did.
Bears don't surround the alpha and protect him from the flack his actions cause. They fight to knock the alpha off the throne. ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/ryancduff/status/1847255123048755375))
- .@photomatt "There's no proof that WPEngine is losing customers or is suffering harm by my actions"
Also Matt: Here's a tracker of all the domains that have left @WPEngine in the past few weeks along with a handy CSV so you can work to poach the remaining ones. https://t.co/BBExevQGRG

- Reasonably confident (99%) this is another one of @photomatt's burners on reddit based on the tone and multiple very specific statements, plus it's a new account.
So bizarre. Like how can yo speak about him in absolutes if you're not him, yet you speak in 3rd person? LOL 😂 https://t.co/VZB8THgGMI

- Just another day of very unhealthy and toxic behavior from WordPress co-founder Matt Mullenweg... https://t.co/QxbpIxIyHS
 ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/ryancduff/status/1871708268755869736))
- We should really be talking about how current and former (as is the case here) Automattic employees are writing pro-[photomatt](https://twitter.com/photomatt) content and he reposts it.
It's like one big PR operation.
But he wants you to think WPEngine has paid shills and is running "dark PR" 🤣
Literally everything Matt is accusing others of doing is what he's actually doing. ([View Tweet](https://twitter.com/ryancduff/status/1876322456022999233))
- Looks like Matt Mullenweg is not complying in the other cases not related to WPEngine... so I guess this type of malicious compliance (or even non-compliance) is what we have to look forward to in the WPE case?
I mean, yikes 😬 https://t.co/YzQ3VdJTST https://t.co/GJYG3p3upx

- Looks like @automattic was getting paid over $750k/year to host whitehouse DOT gov https://t.co/0tHg9vC6Cd
