Saying you wouldn’t have done something he did is not an answer. Answer the question. What would you have done if you were in his shoes? Have you ever lead anything worth $900M? What credentials do you bring to the table that suggests you would have made different decisions that got [wpengine](https://twitter.com/wpengine) to the table to make a deal? I’m sure there won’t be anyone out there who can answer the question. I own a trademark and that’s my opinion. If anyone can show me an example of an open source company making their trademark public and the benefits that created, I’d be open to hearing about it. But for now, no way would I ever make the WordPress trademark public. You’d then have everyone creating all kinds of products and services under the WordPress name with no continuity or connection with the main products and services. Such a ridiculous idea.
