# Courtney Robertson × Matt Mullenweg — Every Known Q&A Exchange
Compilation of every confirmed public Q&A exchange between Courtney Robertson and Matt Mullenweg at WordPress events (WordCamp US, WordCamp Europe, WordCamp Asia, WordCamp Canada). Transcripts extracted from YouTube auto-captions plus Descript-transcribed VTTs. Timestamps link directly to the moment in each video.
**Timestamp comprehensiveness:** every transcript-derived item preserves time information as precisely as the source allows. See the per-section **Utterance timestamps** tables for the machine-readable view; narrative blockquotes retain inline mm:ss markers for browsing. Schema v2 captures four timestamp levels: (1) event, (2) speaker contribution, (3) outcomes, (4) source extraction metadata.
**Companion archive:** [[Courtney x Matt Mullenweg Q&A - Events Without Exchange (Archive)]] catalogues events reviewed where no Courtney exchange was found (Slido-only formats, State of the Word, WCAsia 2024, etc.), the WCEU 2022 Porto reference (no recording located), and the two previously IP-blocked videos that have since been resolved.

> **Courtney:** [17:00] Hey Matt, Courtney Robertson at GoDaddy. Hi. Um, it's an honor to be able to ask you a question at many of the camps. Yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity to present with a panel about "Where will WordPress be in 2030?" We touched on areas related to education, AI, a few things. I'd like to hear your thoughts about where WordPress will be in 2030. Um, what phase of the roadmap we might be in — or if the roadmap might be wrapping up and we have a new roadmap ahead of us?
>
> **Matt:** [17:36] 2030 WordPress is on the moon for sure. Right? We need to talk to NASA to do that one. I don't know — we might need to talk to like SpaceX or or or China or something like that. I think they might get there for... okay. Um, but yeah, there's definitely going to be kind of like more active moon presence then, and so I hope some people are blogging from the moon. And if not, I'll do my best to get up there. I've always said I want my 50th birthday to be on the moon.
>
> Um, what else? I think that — well, just the progress in the AI models is going to be ridiculous. And I think particularly the models becoming a lot more multimedia or multimodal, so, um, they already, you know, people are talking a lot about uh sort of games that get created as you play them. I think it's something that's very much on the roadmap of of several of the models including like um all the creative ones. Um, you know, just like I talked about having a personalized tutor — what if that tutor is sort of like a video persona and they're talking to you? And so that sort of thing I think will be, um, we'll take it for granted. And that could mean like your favorite TV show — maybe there's some episodes they make and then there's sort of episodes that are created on the fly for you because you say "okay, I'm ready for a new season of Game of Thrones" and it just makes one for you. Or you're like "I want The Game of Thrones where Patrick Stewart as captain from Star Trek crashes into the castle" and then they have some sort of mashup. So you'll be able to do crazy stuff like that. Um, but you were going to ask about WordPress in 2030.
>
> **Courtney:** [19:13] Yeah, yeah. Well, we're going to be blogging about all this stuff. I'm thinking of some of your answers and how that could impact learn.wordpress.org. I'm not sure about the crashing and the Star Trek in there, but if you've got other ideas beyond AI — or even how we consume WordPress five years from now that might be different from today. I mean, five years ago was the beginning of the pandemic.
>
> **Matt:** [19:37] Yeah, it's hard not to think about anything except AI right now. And I said a few years ago before ChatGPT came out — um, learn AI deeply, everyone in the room should be playing with it. Um, try out the different models, check out Grok, check out DeepSeek — two of the coolest ones that just launched. Um, you — for WordPress at that point will be like past all the phases of Gutenberg. Um, I think — well, I don't know, Matias, what do you think? What's post-Gutenberg?
>
> **Matias Ventura:** [20:24] Takes, you know, 90% of the time — like 100 years. Yeah, um, I don't know. I think the — well, in in the talk I gave, I think we also reflected a bit that part of the thing is just discovering as we go. Like figuring out — like how, and right now it's AI that's shaping reality, but who knows in a few decades what it would be. And to me the only like conviction is that, yeah, we need to adapt, we need to change, and that's part of the fun of it. I think, uh, so I'm looking forward to whatever comes.
>
> **Matt:** [21:01] That's a good point of — you know, how many releases we have at WordPress now? 60 or whatever? Um, 70 probably. Uh, outside of Gutenberg, we haven't had a roadmap that goes, you know, more than six months or a year or a couple versions. Um, because we — the world changes and in ways you can't predict. And uh, but being responsive is I think really, uh, how organisms survive. You know, [Darwin] said it's not the fittest of the species that survives, it's the one that's most adaptable to change. And I think that's true for software as well.
>
> **Courtney:** [21:33] Thank you, Matt.

> **Courtney:** [28:38] Hey, Matt. Courtney Robertson, developer advocate at GoDaddy. First time you and I chatted was in 2009, and um it was in New York. You — we were much younger. I won't say our age, just we were both much younger then. Um —
>
> **Matt:** [28:53] 16 years to be exact.
>
> **Courtney:** [28:56] So in 2014, uh, the likes of Courtney O, who's in the room, and Tracie Cooper-Lehner (Tracy LC) welcomed me to the training team table at a contributor day. And we know that contributor days' sessions are great, but contributor days are where really the action is at a WordCamp. And I got to see that you were at contributor day with us this year. And I know your schedule is probably not one that allows you to get to everything you would like to do. What got you to contributor day this year? What did you get from it? Um, will we see you at contributor days in the future?
>
> **Matt:** [29:31] But I hope so. Um, yeah, I — it is true. I do wear a lot of hats. I also run a 1,400-person company and like other all these other things. Um, so uh, why do I love contributor day? As you said, exactly what you said, it's kind of like the core of everything we do. And when you're able to see that thrill of, uh, you know, someone getting their first commit or their first props or their first like change to the website, I think that's really fun. I also think it's a format — I part of why I wanted to go was like, you know, to see like brainstorm a bit about like how's the format working, what are the outcomes from it, are there other things we could try? Like, uh, Automattic co-hosted an MCP hackathon in our New York office a few weeks ago with, uh, like Anthropic and um Smithy and a few other awesome companies. And it was actually pretty neat to see — like there were 31 teams I think that competed, and I was one of the judges. And to see what people built — and it was just a one-day hackathon, uh, versus like a whole weekend one — but like what they were able to build, like some pretty impressive like fully-formed applications in like just a handful of hours. And um, it really got my mind turning about like, wow, how could we — like what could we accomplish and leveraging this in-person time? And uh, could we try a format where it's like maybe a little competition or something like that? Or some prizes? Or, you know, just make it fun, just try some different things. Um, and the other reason I went — 'cause there's a bug I wanted to fix.
>
> **Courtney:** [31:04] Did — did you manage to get it in? I heard there was —
>
> **Matt:** [31:07] That bug is still there. I don't want to say it 'cause I kind of want to fix it myself. It's a little bit of an edge case. It's in the edit comments screen. It's when you filter certain things — and I'm going to fix it.
>
> **Courtney:** [31:19] All right. All right. Thank you.
>
> **Matt:** Thank you.

### Transcript
> **Courtney:** [17:31](https://youtu.be/RL-XccK30sY?t=1051) — Hey, Matt. Courtney Robertson. Uh, this week, kind of related to Michelle's question — this week I saw Nick (I'm not sure how to pronounce Nick's last name, maybe Kimsey) on Twitter uh kind of recounting how when you go to submit a theme, the image that's in the preview for the theme — if it is AI-generated, um, that that's getting rejected. And the nuances — Dion dug into the nuances of this. Dion's one of our long-time core commit core leads, et cetera, in the project — a hidden gem. If you haven't encountered Dion yet, please find Dion and meet him.
>
> Um, so, uh, Nick is learning the legal ramifications of having an AI-generated image as part of the theme directory — like what we have to do in the theme directory, because if the image that's in the theme is generated by AI, there's a lot of legal stuff yet about can we do it, can we not? And we would all like to just be like, "Yeah, whatever, move on." But then there's some other ramifications. Do you — is that on your radar? Is that like — I know we've looked at criteria of what could go into the theme repo and some of those deals. And I don't know if — I mean, if once we get into legal stuff, that's maybe beyond your eye.
>
> **Matt:** [18:49](https://youtu.be/RL-XccK30sY?t=1129) — Well, fortunately I'm getting really good at legal stuff. Wasn't on my roadmap for, uh, for the past year or two, but um, yeah. Um, so this is very much an evolving area, and the laws from country to country do vary a lot. Um, however, there's also some common-sense things you can apply. And I think that there is a sort of rapidly — um, we're not putting the genie back in the bottle with AI stuff. One, just the company like OpenAI is just too big to fail now — like the entire economy and growth is based on these systems, the infrastructure build-outs, the massive data centers, everything. It's kind of incredible, not to mention the usage — like it's really transforming, like translation, code, so much.
>
> Um, now WordPress.org particularly, because it's volunteers, a lot of these things, um, those folks aren't comfortable making big policy decisions like this. Yeah, they could have ramifications. Um, they already put a lot on the line, you know. Um, there's, you know, I kind of shield everyone from a legal point of view and everything like that, but in theory, people could go after them. And, and we have had instances where some of these folks can get harassed by someone who gets like something rejected or banned from the forums for spamming or stuff like that. So we do try to provide some um, some shelter.
>
> Um, now on this issue in particular, Nick is someone I I talk to almost every day. He's — he's he's doing some very very cool stuff across WordPress and lots of innovative things with themes. Um, I like that he pushes the boundaries. So for example, right now theme directory is fairly conservative in — for example, with the intention that we want the demo to look like the theme when you install it. Or we don't want it too reliant on like we're eating a plugin. And part of the intention there is that we want for WordPress, you'll be able to switch between themes really easily. One of the beauties of it, you know, you can kind of take your entire blog site, click a button, you have a brand-new design. Now, also themes is they start to incorporate more advanced functionality, which is pretty cool. Um, those sorts of things aren't allowed.
>
> And in fact, one of my favorite examples of something that was in the theme directory a long time ago and is not allowed on the current guidelines, although I think we've made an exception, is the command-line theme. Has anyone seen this? You load it up, it's like a blinking terminal, and you interact with it by typing in commands like `list post` and you can type `help` and it gives you all the things. This is so cool. By the way, I don't think it complies with like any of our standards, like accessibility probably breaks some rules there, like all sorts of things. So I think part of it is, you know, how can we move — and I think Nick even did a post about this, like rules versus guidelines or guardrails. So I think part of the way we can do this is as a marketplace. Right now there's certain things that we don't allow. And in fact those rules just get, they creep up and get more and more bigger every time, right? Because each sub-team comes in and says, "Oh, I need my rules to be a requirement." Um, actually accessibility is a great great example of that.
>
> Now, I think what's interesting in marketplace is we can move these things from being maybe rules to being like tags. So for example, if you were like a university and you only wanted to see themes that were WCAG 2.0 or higher compliant — which by the way, some pretty strict requirements that don't apply to many websites for good reasons. Um, but that was a requirement — you should be able to do that as a search. Or if you wanted to see themes that are orange or D, all these sorts of things. Like, I feel like those should just be tags in the marketplace. And use the rating system as well to sort of allow, open up what we can host, but then give better tools for people to search and uh choose what they want.
>
> **Courtney:** [22:43](https://youtu.be/RL-XccK30sY?t=1363) — Thanks. Uh, just a shout-out — please let Nick know that a lot of us are reading what he's putting forward. Um, and I forget his exact website domain. It's iconic —
>
> **Matt:** It's spelled in an interesting way. Yeah.
>
> **Courtney:** Yeah, it has Nick in his name too.
>
> **Matt:** I already got that idea.
>
> **Courtney:** I-Nick-ico. Yeah, so it reads as iconic, but it's I-C-O-Nick. And uh, Nick Hamzy — H-A-M-Z-E. So, uh, Google him. He's got some really cool themes. He's done a lot of cool projects. A bunch of Wapoos, actually. I'm talking to 'em about how we can upgrade all the WaPoo stuff.

**Transcription note:** Courtney says "Nick Hamzy" phonetically and immediately spells "H-A-M-Z-E" — the canonical form is **Nick Hamze**. The domain she describes as "I-C-O-Nick" is **[iconick.io](https://iconick.io/)** (wp.org profile: [@iconick](https://profiles.wordpress.org/iconick/)). Courtney's "maybe Kimsey" was her acknowledged uncertainty about the pronunciation before the spelling correction. Transcripts above preserve her verbatim words; the Outcomes table below uses the canonical forms.

> **Courtney:** [20:47] Howdy, Courtney Robertson, uh, developer advocate at GoDaddy. I like to ask Matt questions at a lot of our WordCamps. In Europe we mentioned the contributor dashboards, and since then I had done some research and you were interested in the findings of that research. It is transparency about the contribution that is happening. There's a post on make.wordpress.org/pro — and it's an MVP — we're using data that we're getting right now from a few sources such as the numbers were manually cranking from Meetup, but we have got some tooling that could pull in our stats from GitHub. Was talking with Auto and Meta about getting our data from Trac — better ways of tracking — with gPress which is a potential Meetup replacement. So we're bringing transparency about the contribution that is happening. Thank you.
>
> Hard part — I've been on the receiving end, and I want to say this with all due respect, I've been on the receiving end about improving contribution. And this is why I am dedicating most of my time between now and the end of the calendar year to continuing to improve these contributor dashboards — because the change that you called out about GoDaddy in this process this week, I saw massive improvements in understanding, and how we can further that contribution and those contribution mechanisms. I was in some meetings with my team about these things, and um I feel really good about this. When we name and shame, I want to know from a leadership perspective: have we gone to the top leaders that you've shared, and have you tried to work channels without it becoming an incident? Because I've been on the other side.
>
> **Matt:** [22:31] This — trust me, I — I've been trying to talk to Heather and Lee. I did not want to give this presentation. I was literally over there calling them saying like, "Hey, are y'all going to step up to this? Are you going to fix this?" And um, yeah, that was scary for me. And by the way, it's scary to go against $102 billion assets of management [auto-caption read "$12 billion"; corrected against the fnI-QcVSwMU transcript]. That's scary. Um, if there's any freak accidents, or by the way, I did not commit suicide, you know — it's um, it's scary. But like, um, I think you have to speak truth to power. And this is all transparent stuff, this is all public, you can all see it. This is all like out there — there's nothing I've said that you can't fact check online. So um, so yeah, thank you. And like I said, for the retaliation thing — like I I know there's — that's what's weird about this is 'cause [corporations] are made up of people, right? And the people don't always agree with the managements. And um, if any one of you gets in trouble for speaking up about this, or supporting me, or supporting WordPress, or anything like that, um, let me know. If you lose your job, I'll do my best to like support you until you find another one. Anything like that — like we're all in this together, we're a community, and um, and ultimately we need to like build things together that nourish [WordPress]. So yeah.
**Context:** This exchange occurred during Matt's September 2024 Q&A at WCUS Portland, held shortly after Matt's public critique of WP Engine and during the early phase of the Automattic/WP Engine dispute. Courtney references prior WCEU 2024 contributor-dashboard conversation and connects her GoDaddy team's increased contribution response.

> **Courtney:** [4:53] Hey Matt, I'm Courtney Robertson with GoDaddy, and I have this habit of asking — asking you questions and then coming back a year later and let's like revisit the same thing. So, stats dashboards — we spoke last about it during the Q&A here last year. Um, the brief update is: sustainability team is currently trialing some options. And you mentioned feedback loops — I want to get some feedback maybe now related to how teams, organizations, project leadership, and also individual contributors — be they sponsored, unsponsored, or those even just hobby contributors not wishing to be sponsored. I've been doing a lot of talking and researching while we're here, asking people, "What do you envision these dashboards to look like? What's going to serve those four areas?" But I really would love to get some project leadership feedback loop — maybe now — about what kinds of data that you're looking for. How would you implement that data? Um, how would that improve contributions to WordPress in your perspective?
>
> **Matt:** [6:00] Yeah. So I'll — we're short on time so I'll say — I'll say the quick thing that uh, I want to fix or have to fix before we do more of this, that's blocking it is: there's some gaming right now happening of some of our stat systems. And uh, not really at the low end but at the high end. And so I really want to make sure we root out all that spam uh before we make these systems used for trustworthy things. So I feel like the data needs to be really trustworthy first before we start exposing it. And that's part of why I turned some of it off, because I was like, oh, this is actually not reflective of reality. There's some — there's some spam here, or spammy behavior. So uh, we got to work on that.
>
> When we feel like the data is high integrity, um, I think we'll be able to expose lots of different views. And I'm very curious to see what you do with uh, because I have some plugins that I'm curious to look at. I also have some stuff I currently have access to at the backend that's kind of cool, that I think we could make publicly accessible. Um, but yeah, love to hear the results of your kind of conversations with users. So thank you.
>
> **Courtney:** Thank you.

### Transcript
> **Courtney:** [41:35] It's really great being here and asking questions again. I'm Courtney Robertson, I'm at GoDaddy, I am also a part of the training team. And last year at the same conference, I asked about getting multilingual working inside of Learn WordPress. Happy to report a year later, we've got many languages. It's not elegant — it's all in the same site, and it's not ideal. But there was a great meeting that — during Contributor Day, worked with Toby and a few others — for improving that. So ask your questions, because you will see progress.
>
> My question today, it revolves around — I was part of a talk in the WP Connect session on funding open source for the future. And it's very, very deeply personal to me in my journey through WordPress and to where I am now. And I am one of the founding members of the WPCC. And I'm happy to have those conversations to explain further what's going on with that. I've had people ask — even last year's [WordCamp] Europe was my first time to take a plane to get to a WordCamp. And there I met Sean from American Eagle, and he was sharing with me that it's hard to bring from their organization — it's hard to bring contributors in to do something for a particular length of time, because without it being organized like they're used to internally working as a team in sprints, that gets a little bit lost.
>
> And this idea came up again yesterday. And could we do it in a way that is open and inclusive, that maybe organizations could be a little more — they would have more transparency of exactly where across our now 22 teams — we have 22 of them now. So across the 22 teams, could we see that plugin review is needing some more staff? Could we have a public way of seeing where the needs are across the teams and maybe some initiatives that we certainly want — and want to be exclusive — but could bring some clarity organization: that for this period of time, maybe between the holidays, some companies have slumps at that time, maybe between their holidays, they could dive in and do a thing during that time, and then move on for a little bit, and then come back again.
>
> So ways of creating opportunities in unique ways of contributing that would not be exclusive by any means. And again, I think elevating that transparency of what the teams need would perhaps open up more of that staff labor and funding directly to help contributors.
>
> **Matt:** [44:04] Yeah, I have a quick answer here, which is an idea I've been thinking about. And we'll try to keep this short. So I think in organizations, where I see this work well, is you change what you measure. And one thing I'd love to get more on WordPress.org is some sort of like dashboards, essentially. Like we have the download counter, we have some stats for plugins and other things, but like what if you could kind of look across the 22 teams and each of those 22 teams had some metrics attached — and like a health metric? And this was how many WordCamps there were last year, this year, whatever. Each team can define its own metrics, but then there was kind of like a red, yellow, green for how things were going. I think that would be really powerful. And then, you know, that'd be fun and motivating, I think, for everyone working on it. And then also if you're coming in and you're like, "OK, what needs help?" Look at the red stuff. So just want to plant that seed of an idea in everyone's mind.

**Note:** `tOcoWvDkYmA` is titled "Matt Mullenweg's WordCamp US Q&A session" and was uploaded 2023-11-23 — but its content is identical to the WCUS 2022 Q&A inside `GOwnksYkH18`. Courtney's opening line "At WordCamp Europe I asked about..." refers to WCEU 2022 (Porto, June 2022), confirming the exchange occurred at WCUS 2022. The late upload appears to be a Q&A-only extract of the 2022 event, not a separate 2023 session.
> **Courtney:** [8:49:01 / 42:19] Clarifying on a question — hi, I'm Courtney Robertson from GoDaddy Pro. At WordCamp Europe I asked about the um, translation on learn.wordpress.org, and I'd like to clarify that question. It was more around courses. We do have ways of storing some of the other languages, but courses are using Sensei Pro. So I'm not sure on the time frame of multilingual, and I would like to see an alternative before we wait that long to make languages more available. And if that means a plugin or a rosetta site or something to maintain that, I'd like to see that get unblocked.
>
> And then related to that — you and I had a conversation in Slack around the data of how many views or what the access is on Learn. And as we know, on .org, gathering too much data is a little bit tricky because people don't like a whole lot of data being gathered, especially on an open source site. Um, it would be helpful. So those are areas that I'm not sure if we can get unblocked, but it would be really nice to.
>
> **Matt:** [8:50:04 / 43:21] I think we could. Yeah, so we can continue that on on the .org stack. But I know we do run like Google Analytics in some places, and we've — we've shared that with different contributors, so that shouldn't be too hard. And I do think we do have some other language courses on Learn as well, so it's a little bit of a manual process now, but it is — it is already happening.
>
> **Courtney:** Right. And, do you have an ETA on overhauling the main make.wordpress.org page itself?
>
> **Matt:** I don't think [it's] currently on the roadmap, so perhaps that's something people could take a look at tomorrow.
>
> **Courtney:** Cool, thank you.
**Outcomes & follow-ups:** _(timestamps support or reject causal links — add Trac tickets, GitHub issues/PRs, Slack threads, blog posts, news articles, and Obsidian notes with dates)_

> [!note] The archive file records the WCEU 2022 Porto session as "no public YouTube Q&A livestream located." Research now confirms the "In Conversation: Matt, Matias and Josepha" session IS on WordPress.tv at `wordpress.tv/2022/07/25/matt-mullenweg-josepha-haden-in-conversation/` (57 min). The archive should be updated to reflect this.

## Methodology
1. **Vault-first search** — checked Obsidian vault Readwise imports for existing transcripts before fetching YouTube. Confirmed existing verbatim captures for WC Canada 2025 (Town Hall / AMA) and WCUS 2024 (limited), plus summary-only for WCEU 2024.
2. **YouTube auto-caption extraction** — 18 videos via `youtube-transcript-api` (Python), cached to `/tmp/yt-transcripts/data/{vid}.json`. Precision ~3-5 seconds per cue.
3. **Keyword clustering** — segments matching `courtney`, `robertson`, `godaddy`, `goad`, `training team`, `learn.wordpress`, `learn wordpress`, `certific` were grouped into 30-second clusters.
4. **Manual false-positive filtering** — reviewed every cluster to confirm it was Courtney speaking versus Matt or another attendee using overlapping terms.
5. **Window extraction** — for each confirmed exchange, pulled 20 sec before hit to 5–7 min after for full Q+A.
6. **Descript fallback for IP-blocked videos** — for `3Fa0Q-brSeI` (WCUS 2023) and `RL-XccK30sY` (WC Canada 2025), where YouTube blocked auto-caption fetch, transcripts were obtained by running the video through Descript (manual download → upload → transcription). VTT files with cue-level timestamps saved to fleeting notes with clickable YouTube timestamp links.
7. **Per-utterance timestamp extraction (schema v2, 2026-04-15)** — `/tmp/yt-transcripts/extract_utterances.py` reads each source (cached JSON for auto-captions, parsed VTT for Descript) and snaps each utterance's approximate start seed to the nearest cue. Output: `exchanges_timestamps.yaml` + `.json` with `speaker`, `role`, `start_seconds`, `start_hms`, `start_display`, `end_seconds`, `end_hms`, `duration_seconds`, `end_is_bounded`, `youtube_url`, `cue_text_sample`. Final-utterance ends are bounded to the matched cue's end rather than video-end (marked `end_is_bounded: false`).
8. **Corrections** — minor disfluencies preserved verbatim; punctuation added for readability only where auto-captions lacked it.
### Timestamp schema (v2)
Four levels captured throughout the project, per user requirement (2026-04-15):
1. **Transcript / event level** — overall event date (exact or month), start/end, timezone, venue, source of timestamp info, whether exact or inferred. Captured in frontmatter (`date_exact`, `timezone`, `venue`, `video_duration_seconds`) and per-section metadata blocks.
2. **Speaker-contribution level** — per-utterance start/end with machine-friendly `start_seconds` (float) _and_ preserved source-native `start_hms` string (`HH:MM:SS.mmm`), speaker name, role (`question` / `answer` / `follow-up` / `interjection` / `aside` / `close`), duration, unbounded-end flag. Captured in `exchanges_timestamps.yaml` and per-section **Utterance timestamps** tables.
3. **Outcome level** — dates on related Trac tickets, Trac comments, GitHub issues/PRs, commits, Slack follow-ups, Obsidian notes, news publications. Captured in per-section **Outcomes & follow-ups** tables. Used to support or reject causal links between an on-stage ask and downstream action.
4. **Source level** — for every extracted timestamp: `source_kind` (youtube-auto-captions vs descript-vtt), `precision` (cue-level vs sub-second), `kind` (approximate vs exact), `extraction_tool` (library + version or product name), `date_extracted`. Captured in each section's metadata block and in root frontmatter `primary_sources` list.
